Today I took my elderly mother for a lunchtime meal for mother's day at the Walter de Cantelupe Inn, in Kempsey. It was a last minute booking and they could not have been more accomodating if they had tried. They were helpful, friendly and the service was impecable. The menu was a choice of three main courses and three desserts, but all great offerings. The food was beautifully cooked and utterly delicious. The portion size was perfect. I would HIGHLY recommend lunching here and will definitely be visiting again in the future.
Excellent pint/service as usual. Great friendly pub with quality.Service: 5/5
What an excellent find, a gem of a place, and Martin was a wonderful host. Excellent food, cooked fresh to order, room was characteristic, great shower and an amazing bed, best night sleep I have had in weeks. Breakfast was very fresh and tasty, Martin is an excellent cook and very friendly and approachable. We will definitely stay again. I can't recommend this B&B enough
We stayed here in late October, and it was really lovely. A very tiny old inn, but very homely. Martin made us very welcome, and we had a lovely evening meal, desert in our room, and a smashing breakfast. Lovely roaring fire too. Can't wait to stay again. We didn't see Walter but did have cantelupe for breakfast!
What a joy to visit this Inn. Right from the moment we arrived Martin made us so welcome. Nothing was to much trouble,he was so invested in making sure our stay was perfect. It was from the roomspacious with the biggest bed we had ever seen to the exceptional evening meal, wonderfull beer then followed In the morning by a beautiful full English breakfast. Would recommend this Inn to anybody.
We booked a last minute two-night stay at the Walter De Cantelupe recently and would highly recommend it to others. Room was clean, breakfast was great, and the hills were a short drive away. Martin, the owner, was very welcoming and couldn't have been more helpful. Thanks again.Rooms: 5/5
This was our second visit to eat here, both times on Friday for fish sourced direct from the market. And, it was well worth the trip. On both evenings we were made very welcome and enjoyed some excellent food. Highly recommended for fish lovers. Thank you Martin.
We enjoyed our one night stay on our way to Wales so much we booked again for our return journey home. Our room was clean and we had no worries regarding Covid19 safety. Martin was a friendly cheerful host. Our breakfasts were well cooked and plentiful. We also had two evening meals which were equally as good. If you enjoy a cosy traditional pub you can't beat this.
Excellent Home style freshly cooked food to order, Ten stars would rate this establishment more fairly.
The owner is lovely and he has a great menu, you need to book in advance, but it's worth it. He also has a great selection of both alcoholic and non alcoholic beer!
