Appalling service and not expected in a Waitrose store. Self checkout was busy with a queue blocking an aisle in this tiny store and the one and only manned counter refused to serve anyone saying it was for trolley users only, despite there not being anyone with a trolley as you couldn’t actually get around the store if you had one. No sign saying trolley users only above the counter either. Do yourself a favour and walk a few short steps to the Sainsbury’s around the corner.
Just finished shopping here and was agressively approached by an employee in the car park to ask me to pay for parking although I had and used the voucher on my shopping inside. Word of the wise don’t let your employees approach mums with kids in dim car parks unless they want to get hurt, self defense mode kicks in when approached in a car park as a lone woman. If you show aggression and confrontation while I have my child and I have done nothing wrong you have it coming it’s called self defense. I would strongly recommend management look at keeping their staff at safe distance in the evenings from shoppers and not aggressively approaching them.

The service received here was extremely appalling, I’ve been a regular customer of this Waitrose and have never experienced being followed/watched or questioned in this store. A member of staff even waited at the door and watched me leave the store, how disgusting and disrespectful! I raised my concerns with the manager and she assured this would be addressed - I really hope it is as this is completely unacceptable! She had also stated the staff were just doing their job and it was nothing personal, if this was the case it would not have only happened to me as I was not shopping in a suspicious manner but rather just, shopping! Disgusting. I guess it’s ok for her to state this, maybe never having experienced this before!nnEdit:nnWhilst I appreciate the apology, I will politely disagree and state the exact opposite of a routine check by a security guard was performed as, I was made to feel uncomfortable by Partners of Waitrose, the employees, therefore, excusing this as a security patrol is unfair and if it was a routine, it would not have happened to one person but rather the entire store. So I disagree and state that this was discrimination. Nevertheless, the further apology is appreciated.
Staff desperately need training on how to deal with individuals who are SEN. When I was in there I had a member of staff completely ignore me, and instead spoke directly to my autistic 6 year old, who was at the time having an autistic meltdown, telling him that, if he “didn’t behave, they would call the police”. My son had thrown a chocolate bar on the floor during his meltdown, and when I picked it up to put it back I was told I would “have to pay for it as he had broken it” it was a chocolate bar, not a china teapot. Overall a very overwhelming and traumatic experience for him and very poor from the staff member.
