Fantastic Sunday lunch prepared by the lovely Imogen. Our second visit and this was AWESOME. Genuinely the BEST Sunday lunch we have EVER had. Friendly staff, football was on not my thing but it wasn't intrusive. Amazing value and they had a meat auction as well! My friend thought he was going to 'meet' someone for a fiver. Highly recommended.

Had our Christmas meal at Wackum last night with friends. Can’t believe how lovely is was. Huge portions of excellent foot, best I’ve ever had! Michelle our waitress was amazing, outstanding, courteous, helpful and nothing was too much trouble or effort. Huge thanks guys for a great night & thank you to Damien & the team. Merry Christmas to you all. Sandra & Ron Hamilton x
Apparently haunted, the Wackum Inn Whitehall, Bristol, was originally called the Beafort Arms. It picked up the sobriquet 'Beatem and Wackem' when on paydays miners wives would come to the pub to forcibly evict their husbands, stopping them from spending all their wages and to come home. The 'Beatem' was dropped over the years. This reviewer has noticed that peoples and place names, and even some words, are shortened in the Bristol area. Back to the pub. Very popular and well patronised by the local community with many large TV screens raised high for capacity viewing. On game days, this place is standing room only. But more importantly to your narrator, it is one of the many Greene King pubs on the Cask Marque Ale Trail - and the purpose of my visit. Although the front-of-house knew little of it the CMAT, explanation attracted interest and the Certificate scanned without problem. The Timothy Taylors 4.1°abv sampled on the day was in noble condition and well deserving the Accreditation awarded.
Just a really amazing, proper local pub, I've spent many a great evening at The Wackum, the pub is fantastically ran by Damion and Laura, always a warm welcome from them both!! New years Eve party 2022 was simply epic, the effort made was off the scale, I really can't speak highly enough of the pub, Damion and Laura, keep up the great work guys!! X
Good pub just a shame about Management! Lovely pub with loads of choices of.well.priced drinks, foods okay too but is standard pub grub options. The big issue here is the Management, the attitude is unbelievable! Not only does it make it impossible to keep staff as no one is willing to put up with them nearly every local person I know avoids it because of the terrible attitude and pettiness of the Gm. Shame but there's plenty of other places to get a pint without the added attitude.
Wonderful pub. Very welcoming to us every time we visit only a few times a year due to distance. Recently viewed an England world cup game there with the kids. Family tables were pre reserved to ensure the kids were comfy. Tables set up perfectly so every seat was facing the screen with space to manoeuvre in and out of the seats. Food was delicious and great value for money with speedy service. The whole pub was packed for the game yet bar drinks and food served super quickly and always with a smile. Atmosphere was fantatsic. Would highly recommend to anyone.
Brilliant and friendly pub. The service is fantastic and the staff and owners are always friendly and eager to look after you. We’ve been here for the past few world cup games and the atmosphere is fantastic. Will definitely continue returning :
Popped in today for dinner and a drink, all the staff were very welcoming and it was a real nice vibe inside, the food was beautiful thanks to Chris in the kitchen and at a great price too! I was served by Michelle who was very helpful. Will Deffinitly be coming back in the future and I’ll be bringing my family along too.
A fantastic local community pub. The landlady and landlord makes everyone feel very welcome. Great atmosphere every time we have visited. Music can be a bit loud, but that may just be me getting old!
