"W Hurst & Son was started by Charles Wheeler in 1859 as a foundry concentrating on agricultural implement manufacture, servicing and repair for the Island’s booming farming industry.In 1886 we moved to 33 Holyrood Street in Newport where our flagship hardware store is located.Although we have remained true to our roots as an ironmongers, we've gradually expanded our product range over the years to follow the current trends. We now stock products relating to lighting, chinaware, glassware, housewares and gardening & outdoor living to name just a few.We are involved in many community organisations as well as raising money for different local charities.Voted Local Business of the Year 2022"

Called in today to puchase some items for work. Saucepans , bread bin etc. Was made to feel very welcome by all staff as I entered shop and sent to see Lynn. Very helpful lady, nothing was to much trouble, polite and friendly. Very happy to recommend
Excellent service, the staff could not be more friendly and helpful. They had exactly the products and sizes I required, none of the other places I tried did. So as they say try Hurst's first .
Lovely shop, helpful & knowledgeable staff. The range of stock is really comprehensive & good quality. Those are the main reasons they have withstood lockdowns, recessions and larger competitors. Newport will also send what you want to smaller branches. I've used Hurst's in Ryde, Cowes & Newport since 1985 for everything DIY, hardware & gifts..excellent. Nothing is too much trouble for them.
Ordered a Spear and Jackson Lopper from Amazon only to be told on the planned delivery day there would be an undefined delay. Found on-line that Hurst's had stock and even with shipping costs from the island still worked out £10 cheaper than Amazon ! I ordered on Sunday and took delivery two days later. I know who I will try for gardening gear in future ...well done Hurst's!
I bought a strimmer -- 2 screws missing. Reported on phone and immediate replacement delivered to door next morning. Where else could you get such service? Not the Net! Try Hurst First!!!!
A good clean tidy store with lots of useful stock general hardware fixtures and fittings kitchen ware plus a lot more good helpful and knowledgeable staff will use again.
Excellent service from the manager at Newport, very helpful and went the extra mile in assisting us by helping fully assemble my grandparents new trolley. Thanks Hursts
Good range of products. Staff were very helpful.
Can usually find what I need here. It's the nearest thing to an apartment store on the Island but closed on Sundays.
Excellent shop it's been there for years you can always get what you want
