Great park to take a stroll in as has lots of paths. Good for wildlife as plenty of trees & shrubs. Squirrels everywhere lots of Blackheaded gulls pecking the grass for food, lots of birds. And some great play areas for children.
Victoria Park is a large green space in Bedminster. It has football pitches, a bowling green tennis courts ,basket ball enclosures and children's play grounds. It's small wooded areas break up the scenery. On top of the oark there are views to the Suspension Bridge, the Wills Towr and Cabot tower. There is a Victoria Park Bowling and Tennis Club. The park was established in the 1880s following the expansion of Bedminster as a residential and industrial area within Bristol. The council bought 51.5 acres 20.8 ha of land from Sir John Henry Greville Smyth for £20,678 now £2,446,000, though the land had been used as an unofficial open space and meeting area for some time before this. By 1887, a children's play area had been installed which became immediately popular. The streets around the park were laid out in 1891. By 1898, four rangers were permanently employed in the park, and a bandstand had been installed. Several drinking fountains and a circular pond had also been established. In 1984, a Water Maze was built in the park, modelled on the bosses on the roof of the church of St Mary Redcliffe. It was built over a 12th-century pipeline supplying water from a spring at Knowle to Redcliffe, which is the subject of the annual St Mary Redcliffe Pipe Walk. The maze was opened in conjunction with work elsewhere to stop sewage water discharging into the River Avon.
Really lovely park. The people are generally super nice here! The park itself is huge and well maintained with lots of seating scattered around. Lovely all year round to be honest.
Love this park. Huge open space, great park for children. Lots of exploring to be done too! Great for families, pets etc.
An awesome park. So spacious. Plenty of playgrounds. Mini basketball courts. Benches. Green grass. Fantastic scenery. Would probably come here everyday if it were closer to home.
Great park in Bristol, about 15-20 mins walking from Temple Meads & about 5 mins walking from Bedminster. This park has a great open green spaces, seems very clean, has lots of bins and has a nice outdoor play area bit.
Love walking the dog here and taking our nephews. Little bit hilly in places. Is a path all the way round so perfect for pushchairs, wheelchairs and bikes for the little ones. Has two parks which they all love and a nice little wood bit. Normally has a little van selling coffee. Is alot of dogs on and off lead.
A very special place as I've lived opposite this park all my life and woken up every morning to the vista of it. Huge rolling hills, plenty of green space, a cafe, tennis courts, football pitches, play areas, a cafe, woodland, a skate park, bowling green, rose garden and basketball courts. Looks great all year round but especially pleseant in spring with Sakura blossom. Perfect for a walk, picnic or kick about and much more!
Lovely park, with amazing views and great playground for children
Beautiful park with a small playground, ping pong table, tennis and bowling club. Toilets are in desperate need of updating and maintenance. They seem to be closed most of the time. Make sure to have a bag for your rubbish if you go for a picnic as bins get full pretty quickly. The little van that sells food and drinks is really handy. Choice is limited, mind. Expect smaller than average cup sizes for drinks at full price. It would be nice if they supported local producers.
