We went this time to visit and see the Born Free sculptures. Despite grotty British weather it was pleasant, clean and tidy. The Lion sculptures were brilliant, of excellent scale, quality and really informative. I was pleasantly surprised to see no vandalism or graffiti at all so they have clearly been well received and respected. We had a beautifully huge ice cream from the van there and admired the view of the Clifton Suspension Bridge before heading to Park Street and the Centre.
Great for some fresh air either a stroll with your dog, a jog or a good long walk to ‘blow out the cobwebs’. Pleasant views of the Avon gorge and Clifton Suspension Bridge. Ice cream normally available at lookout. It’s a life long friendly open space.
Run, walk, cycle Clifton Downs you can do it all, plenty off free parking round the fields and lots of open space weather your a fitness fanatic or like to chill and have a picnic and walk the dog. Plenty of organised sports are on through out the year probably have to be a member of those though and during the summer months lots of events occurring too. If you like the outdoors get yourself over there and enjoy.
Born Free Forever exhibition well worth a visit, beautiful sculptures in a lovely setting. Easily accessible and free. Lots of space to wander in and dog friendly.
A pleasant area today to whittle some time away from the bustling city. A relatively fine day, with a breathtaking view of the Avon Gorge & beyond. On the far side near the walled area is usually an ice-cream waggon up until a respectable time dependant on the season. This evening was until 18.00 hrs 6pm Playground: In as much as it's a big field , the grassed area is an expansive area to run wild as well as play games. Restrooms: It's all well and good until 16.00 hrs 4pm for both ladies & gentlemen. Disabled 24 hours with an appropriate radar key. Obtainable at any respectable chemist/pharmacy/shopping mobility facilities. Dog-friendliness: Absolutely, on or off the lead. Usual as permitted by law & freedom. Don't forget your poop scoop. Picnic area: Once again , an expansion of grassed area, pockets of woodland with benches scattered about the boundary. Plenty of parking along the roadside edge. Splendid Downs Cafe & seating area accommodates for eating in or takeaway. A fine selection of light snacks & beverages. Highly recommended.
Despite being an overcast day on 30.7.22, a family get together to see the Lions on the Downs was an enjoyable day. The lions exhibition was magnificent. The kids however wanted to climb on them and once they had seen a few lions, they begged for ice cream!
If you want somewhere to walk which is quite vast and also quite pretty and unique, then this is the place to go. With Free parking along all the edge of the Clifton Downs, you can park and explore as much as you want. There are lots of benches scattered around for you to enjoy a sit down and rest your legs, the downs are also dog friendly and it's the perfect place to take them for a walk or run around.
Absolutely beautiful wide open space with amazing views of the Bridge and River - perfect for a romamtic walk and there is a lovely little cafe that serves vegan and gluten free cake as well as delicious coffee to hide in when it rains!
Beautiful place to go for a walk or to chill out. A great meeting place and ideal in the summer. Breathtaking views over the gorge.
Went to see the lion sculptures. More sculptures than the 5 shown. If you are in the area it's a worthwhile visit.
