I very much enjoyed my short time in UWL doing micro-credit course in introduction to business. The lecturers Micheal Nimo & Dr Shafqat Abbas were fantastic, knowledgeable & inspirational. I made so many friends from my course, who I will be graduating alongside soon. The university campus has invested heavily in its infrastructure, facilities and research, to become a leading modern university. I had great memories of my time in Freddie’s bar, dining in Ealing Broadway between studies.
nnAs an international applicant, my experience with the Admissions Team has been extremely disappointing.nnBefore paying the deposit, communication was fast, frequent and supportive. However, once the deposit was paid, the level of communication changed dramatically. Emails went unanswered for days or even weeks, and getting any meaningful support became almost impossible.nnFor international students, the real support is needed after receiving the offer, not before. This is the stage where we have to arrange visas, accommodation, flights and finances. Every country has different visa processing times, and when classes are only a month away, timely guidance from the university is essential.nnInstead of receiving the support I expected, I was left chasing the Admissions Team for basic information. The lack of communication created unnecessary stress and made it incredibly difficult to plan my visa application, accommodation and travel arrangements.nnInternational students invest significant amounts of money and trust in a university. Unfortunately, I did not feel that the Admissions Team genuinely understood or cared about the challenges international applicants face.nnBased on my experience, I would not recommend the University of West London to international students unless the university significantly improves its admissions support and communication after deposits are paid.
My experience at the University of West London has been intellectually enriching and creatively transformative. As a PhD researcher in Theatre at the London College of Music, I have found the environment both supportive and critically engaging.nnThe programme encourages innovative thinking, especially in areas like devised performance and socially conscious theatre. My research—exploring ecological trauma, the Niger Delta, and South African texts through performance—has been strengthened by the university’s openness to interdisciplinary and practice-based approaches.nnThe faculty are approachable, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in students’ development. There is a strong emphasis on research that speaks to real-world issues, which makes the academic journey feel purposeful and impactful.nnUWL provides a space where artistic practice and scholarship intersect meaningfully. I would highly recommend it to anyone interested in theatre, performance, and creative research.
I would like to give a special thank you to Martin Marshall for all of his support throughout my time at university. He has always been approachable, kind, and willing to help. No matter how busy he was, he consistently replied to emails promptly and took the time to support not only me but many other students as well.nnHis guidance, encouragement, and genuine care for students have made a real difference, and I truly appreciate everything he has done. Thank you, Martin, for your dedication and for always being there to support us.
