I would like to thank UCL for their research into Huntingtons Disease and coming up with a ground breaking Gene therapy. While I dont know anyone with /who has had this horrible Disease I have read and seen on TV much about it God Bless U all keep up the good work
I applied for a Master’s programme at UCL and was very disappointed with the way my application was handled.nnI had been waiting for a decision for a long time and repeatedly explained my situation — that I needed a response as soon as possible, since most courses, including the one at UCL, start in September. I had also received offers from other universities that required an answer quickly, but I kept waiting for UCL’s decision.nnI emailed the department several times without receiving any helpful support. When I called UCL, I was told that I would receive a response before the start of the course. However, on the very same day the course began 22 September, I had to call again and express my disappointment. At that point, I only wanted clarity — either an acceptance or a rejection — but I felt that my case was not taken seriously.nnI also requested a refund of my application fee, since the course had already started without a decision on my application. Strangely, only a couple of hours later, my application status was suddenly changed to “unsuccessful.” This timing made me feel that the decision was rushed and unfair, not because I was rejected, but because my application should have been reviewed and finalized well before the start date.nnOverall, I was left feeling very dissatisfied with the process. The lack of timely communication and transparency caused me to lose other opportunities, and I believe this experience does not reflect the high standards one would expect from a university like UCL
I had an awful time at this university, which is more a corporation than an institute of learning. You pay tens of thousands of pounds, which you take out in loans, in exchange for a degree, allowing you to get a job. That's the deal.nnThe facilities were mostly old and decrepit, most of my lectures took place in other departments, campus security are unfriendly and domineering.nnThere was very little accommodation available, and even then only for your first year, and at exorbitant rates that student loans do not cover.nnThis is more a university for Londoners, and the international upper crust who can afford to attend, than based on merit.nnWe're frequently hit with messages about how UCL is investing ungodly amounts of money in a new campus in Stratford?, which sound much more suitable as messaging to the stockholders of a company, rather than something students would give a shit about. Why would we be pleased to hear that all of the money we pay to attend is going into something that won't be ready until after we've left, and that doesn't benefit us in any way at all?nnI wish I had gone elsewhere.
Studied here. The teachers are not interested in the students or in teaching. The courses are put together very chaotically and everything is rushed through. Some textbooks are written very poorly and contain scarce information. I was also disappointed by the lack of centralization and a unified system across all subjects. I don’t see any tangible proof of this university’s greatness - so far, it’s all just words.
I had high hopes coming to UCL, expecting a dynamic academic environment, strong support, and a meaningful student experience. Unfortunately, my time here fell short in several key areas.nnWhile the university enjoys a strong global reputation, I found the teaching inconsistent, with some lecturers engaged and supportive, and others unprepared or difficult to approach. Feedback was often slow and vague, making it hard to improve or understand expectations.nnStudent support services felt impersonal and overstretched, especially around mental health and academic advising. For such a large institution, I expected better infrastructure to support student wellbeing.nnThere’s also a noticeable lack of community – it’s easy to feel lost in the system, especially as an international or postgraduate student. The administration is often disorganised and slow to respond, which adds unnecessary stress to basic processes like module changes or visa letters.nnLondon itself is vibrant, but living costs are extremely high, and UCL doesn’t do enough to offset that with affordable housing or student resources.nnUCL has potential – there are pockets of excellence – but my overall experience was underwhelming. I hope future students are offered better consistency, communication, and genuine support.
