My partner and I came to stay in Rhayader for a small break and visited here when we first arrived. We are from North Yorkshire and everything about this place was perfect! Friendly staff, fast food and the atmosphere is Beautiful. 100% recommend coming here!!!!
Ty Morgan’s cafe: 5 star. Excellent breakfast 1 day, tea and cake the previous afternoon. Beautiful venue and friendly staff. They also own several other venues including the Lamb and Flag, where we had dinner which was superb.nnTy Morgan’s rooms: 2 star. Really tired rooms, we checked out early as we couldn’t bring ourselves to give our toddler a bath in that bathroom. The beds aren’t great either but the bedding and towels were both clean and fresh. Think it’s massive luck of the draw for what you get. If I was working away or on a lads weekend it would have been ok, but not for a young family.
We just happened on this place passing through. Food is excellent and really good value. Cakes are too die for, service is friendly and efficient. We will be making this a regular stop.
Accommodation is above the Ty-Morgans tea rooms, on the crossroads, directly opposite the clocktower. Check-in is via the Crown, Inn North St 50yds away.nDinner at The Crown - Excellent. Great valuenRooms at Ty Morgans - Superb - Spacious/clean/comfortablenBreakfast at Ty Morgans Tea Room - Brilliant, tasty, varied.nThis is just the place I have been looking for and central for all my needs. Can,t rate this complex high enough.
A one star review may seem somewhat mean, but in this case it is not. We travelled for nearly three hours to get to Rhayadar for a few days away. We love Wales and my wife's brother lives in the town. We arrived on Monday early afternoon and as we entered the town saw a car parking space outside Ty Morgans so stopped for a cup of coffee and something to eat. I opened the door and approached the counter.nI was 'greeted' with a silent stare by one of the bar staff who was cleaning a glass.nIt was a bit like a western movie when the piano stops playing as the bad guy enters the bar...nI politely asked 'are you open?'- which was a silly question as quite clearly it was open- the door was not locked, the lights were on, and their was no sign saying closed.nThe lady simply starred back at me unsmiling and said, 'YES'.nWelcome to Rhayadar.nI'm not easily offended but I wouldn't have spoken to a dog that way.nAs we left three young guys also entered and were told the same. They left and looked equally unimpressed.nThe owners of Ty Morgans need to train their staff on a few matters.n1 When you are closed, turn off most of the lights and lock the door.n2 Display a sign saying 'Closed'n3 In you event of forgetting to do 1 or 2 and someone enters the establishment wanted to spend money then train your staff to at least treat the potential customer with respect and not like something they've trod on the sole of their shoe.nThankfully there was a lovely cafe opposite with polite, helpful staff who served us coffee and lovely food. They will be getting a 5 star review from us
