Popped in for a couple drinks while staying at a nearby campsite. Staff very friendly & welcoming. Sat outside in courtyard where our pouch could explore. Landlord very friendly and even gave time for a chat. Drinks were good & reasonably priced. Definitely will return again.......
Brilliant food, *dog friendly*, would highyly reccomend one of the burgers or the butter chicken great flavour, pretty hot the steak and ale pie was to die for. Worth driving 270 miles for! Lovely place, warm and welcoming, friendly staff, you cannot go wrong here. AMAZING.
The warmest welcome! After a long drive from Brighton, the landlord and his staff made us feel so welcome and at home, we felt we had landed in safe harbour after hours on the road. Beautiful green setting, with the sound of bird song and river, a toasty log stove roaring in the hearth, home made chicken and leek pie made by a very charming chef. The best introduction to Devon we could have experienced. Exceptional service from every person we met. Thank you :
Over priced, pleasant but unremarkable food. Vegan burgers were tiny and drowning in mayo. Friendly service but did not listen - we made two requests for minor, simple deviations to be made from the menu and despite assurances that these were fine neither was carried out. One of these was to serve the waffle with salted caramel sauce rather than chocolate sauce which shouldn't have been too hard since every other dessert came with salted caramel sauce!
I got the impression that the staff were very new and inexperienced in this business, friendly enough though and were trying. My advice to them would be to employ a trained chef. We had a square of greaseproof paper in the chicken burger. The chocolate brownie was burnt. There was no prices on anything and the final bill was a bit of a shock. Everything was very overpriced for what it was. I asked for a child's portion of one of the mains as we were not offered any children's menus. We got the reduced portion but paid full price. The roast dinner wasn't great. Would I recommend this place to others - No. Would I return to this place myself - Unfortunately not.
Lovely food really enjoyed it the staff were really friendly and helpful. The only downside the price of the drinks £2 for an orange squash and water I think is a little steep to say the least and £7.75 for a large glass of Sauvignon Blanc is the most I've ever paid.
Very welcoming and took our needs into consideration considering we were eating outside under COVID rules, under cover and heaters. Lovely food considering a limited menu. Would definitely go back when restrictions are lifted. Thank you.
A very warm and personal welcome with excellent service and great food and drink. Highly recommended, worth trying any of the dishes. I had the paté twice + the pork roast on a Sunday and the fish pie 5 days late. Certainly no disappointment
Wonderful atmosphere and very friendly and helpful staff. As a vegetarian, I had plenty of options on the menu and very much enjoyed the meal I was served. The perfect place for a drink and a traditional pub meal after a long walk on the moors.
All the food is just overpriced frozen food. The end price for 9 people was over £200, and the food was frozen and bland. The drinks are not much better either. Some drinks may have fancy names, but we got a drink for £7, but it was just J20, which you can get from a supermarket for less than a pound a bottle. The rating is not very accurate and I do not recommend.
