Went for the soft launch. Lovely bar restaurant and very friendly staff. Speedy and attentive service. Food came out very quickly. Raw oysters were great. Love their mushy peas and starter dishes. However, the quality of the fish could have been better, all the ones tried were quite mushy. The battered coley and chips was the most disappointing mushy, dry and bland.
We had a great experience here, after stumbling on this gem on Upper Street - in the search for a good fish and chips fix. Fish was super fresh and chips were delicious, and the staff were friendly & helpful - exemplary service - just what we needed considering we were going on adventures with our 3 week old. Top stuff - thank you!
Recently open in Angel late April 2017, Trawler Trash place took over a fish and chips place with his own crowd fan people. Changing a known cheap place in the area to a more upscale one with also different motive, is not easy but Trawler Trash has done it impressively with a great interior design. Food wise, you won't be that impress though, with starters around the £7 tag and mains from £12 to £17, can easily add up. Glasses of wine around £7 and up and bottles from £28. I wouldn't rush to come back since it's literally nice well cooked and presented sea food and fish, but nothing remarkable. Friendly staff and good service. Appreciate that it's in my area though and it's always good to have a new place around!
Don't be put off by the 'clever' name. One of a handful of restaurants on Upper Street that I've visited multiple times, and inexpensive too. There's a fun selection of small plates and the staple of mains is reliably good.
Really nice neighborhood place! Just reopened under new management. Cod and haddock are lightly fried, juicy and meaty. Gherkins are a nice accompaniment, crunchy and a bit sour. Get the large chips - huge portion. They also have chicken tenders, burgers, mushy peas and other sides. All reasonably priced. Friendly staff. The high street needed a proper fish & chips place!
Posh chippy. Modern decor and well-cooked chips and not-just-your-standard-cod selection, focusing on often-overlooked fish species. A little on the expensive side, but in line with the quality. Take-out as well as informal dine-in.
Went here for the soft launch. Was really surprised with this place. Even though it's meant to be known for its fish and chips, we avoided that due to bad reviews. However, all the dishes we did try were really good. The flavours and taste were fresh and light. Really enjoyed the experience and the atmosphere. Should note, dessert options are very limited and not appealing and service can be a lot better.
A beautifully cooked fish and chips in a generous portion. I like the interior design too. Why shouldn’t a chippy have stylish interior and lighting?
Food was incredibly bland. We were so excited to go here and have some decent seafood, but were really disappointed. Staff were slow and unattentive despite the place being empty.
Bit hit and miss. We were told by the head waitress when we were seated that there were specials on but she didn't know what they were. We asked our waiter when he came for our order and he has to check with the kitchen. Plates were taken away from one of us who had finished but the other was still eating. Some food was tasty, other bits were a bit bland. Sandfire was basically just covered in lemon yoghurt but the scallops were delicious. Wouldn't go back in a hurry.
