Very close to the Railway Station, Staff were very polite , While we we there they had a problem with Water service, Which was out of there hands. They kept everyone informed and got it sorted as soon as they could.. The Hotel is very central and the Rooms are very clean and spacious. Breakfast was hot and filling . I will return.
Great place to stay! Really close to everything you’ll need. Arcade across the road. Aldi next door about 5 minutes walk to Great western beach. Flounders fish and chip shop is a short walk of about 5 minutes and is worth it . The staff here at this Travelodge are amazing, super friendly. Only thing is not knowing what sort of room you’d have, you could pay £200 a night for a room with an internal wall for a view even if you ask for a sea view.
The only positive about this hotel is the view. It is gorgeous to wake up to the view of the sea every morning. But that view is not worth the experience of staying in these rooms when the weather is hot and humid. You will be absolutely fine if you are visiting in winter, But beware that in the summer it will be unbearable and your room will be so hot. The window only opens slightly, not enough for any air to come in. There is no Air-conditioning in the rooms, Which for the price you pay, I think is absurd. Air conditioning should be a must if you do not have windows that open properly. They supply you with a fan, but this is no way enough for the extreme heat that accumulates in the room. The bathrooms are disgusting and there is zero ventilation in the bathroom. When you have a shower, the water and condensation makes the entire room wet. The showerhead is stuck to the wall, so you cannot take it off to wash the shower or even wash yourself properly. For the whole time that I was here, I felt dirty because I couldn’t wash myself properly. Because there is zero ventilation in the toilet when someone goes toilet, the smell dissipate into the actual hotel room and doesn’t leave for a long while because there is no ventilation or airflow. I wasn’t expecting much from this hotel because I know it is a budget hotel, but the experience was shocking. On the first night that we arrived, I didn’t feel as though the room was cleaned. The bedsheets had a distinctive smell to them. I hated the entire stay. Also another thing which really bothers me about this place is the fact that they do not have any type of mini fridge in their rooms. It means that you cannot even bring back a bottle of water and keep it cool. They have a vending machine in the downstairs lobby, So I assume they want customers to purchase their water from this machine. When we stayed here, we asked for our room to be cleaned once and it was not. They simply refreshed our towels and gave us some toilet paper. They didn’t change our bedsheets or even hoover the room which had loads of sand and debris on it. In our room, we had bags that were full of rubbish And empty packaging because the bin in the room is so small. We assumed that this would be thrown away when we asked for our room to be cleaned and refreshed, but it wasn’t. This resulted in the rubbish in the room smelling and creating a nasty smell. One morning we asked a passing employee what we should do with the rubbish that mounted up in our room and he simply told us to leave it in our room. The employees who clean the rooms seem fed up with their job and this shows with the effort and cleanliness that is lacking. I think there is also a lack of professionalism with the staff. One evening when we were returning to our room, an employee was ranting and raving and complaining about the stuff that she had to do. Whilst I Understand that she may be frustrated I feel this is really wrong to do in front of customers. It left us feeling awkward and we didn’t know what to do or say. The hotel in general has a very awkward uneasy feeling to it. The only other positive about it was that the reception desk staff were repeatedly friendly and made us feel at ease. We will not be staying here again. It’s definitely not worth the price that you pay and the awful experience will ruin your stay in Newquay. Don’t waste your money here. I think it is worth booking an Airbnb instead.
Went here with my friend, niece and daughter for Boardmasters weekend. All I can say is the staff were great from beginning to the end of our stay. We booked a family room and got a great sea view on the 2nd floor, room was clean and roomy. The staff from reception, to the breakfast and evening staff in the bar were fab. After reading other reviews I am confused with people saying they were rude no sign of this at all and the management should be proud of their team. The hotel was full and this did not impact any service.nnShame there is no aircon but we did get a fan which was a god send and my only other criticism would be the windows could do with a clean.nnApart from that I was very wary of staying in a Travel Lodge but for a basic clean hotel this hit the spot with an added bonus of having a sea viewnnSpecial thanks to a lady who has been with you for 9 years I think her name was Aska … I would like to say ….. thank you for everything with love from LeedsnnThank you team travel lodge
The room was ok for the money. The lack of parking is a pain but you know there isn’t any before you arrive. The rooms are super hot so we opened a window as we couldn’t turn the heating down. The room key consistently didn’t work which meant long walks down to reception. The breakfast looks nice but doesn’t taste great. I had food poisoning and had an uncomfortable few hours after eating. I reported it to the manager who was not interested and that’s the worry because nothing is going to get fixed if no one is taking responsibility. Also be aware that there is an Aldi on the ground floor. The delivery lorry arrives at 5AM and trolleys then trundle up the ramp for 2 hours.
