Good size room, very handy having Lidl just downstairs, close to bus stop and the city centre. Good location. Didn’t have breakfast so can’t say much about the food. Staff were helpful when my room key wasn’t working well. It’s a place I can stay again.
Booked for an overnight stay while travelling down to London. Price for a Sunday night with breakfast included was fine and as this is a Travelodge, and it's on the outskirts of a medium sized town in middle England I didn't have high expectations in terms of the room or facilities. Assuming as it was quiet as death with one person sitting in the bar area on the Sunday night we stayed, the hotel with at least 518 rooms would not be fully booked. We got to the room and put our bags down, went back to the car to get the rest of our stuff and, realising the room was really noisy because of the generator nearby you could feel the vibrations on the wall, we went to reception to see if they could move us to another room. The staff member at reception was unhelfpul, rude and argumentative from the start, claiming initially the hotel was 'overbooked' and that no other room was available, only then to say that the room had been used and so would have to be totally cleaned and there was no housekeeping available - we confirmed we had not used anything in the room and had only been in to the hotel for about 10 minutes and only in the room to put our bags down. She came up and said someone has used the toilet and a bag was on the bed so it constituted being a 'used room' and would necessitate a full room clean I took the bag off the bed and flushed the toilet and wiped the seat which was all that was needed to return the room to state in which we found it. After pushing back on her nonsense and asserting that we couldn't stay in a room that was so noisy, she stormed off shouting 'OK then I will change rooms for you!'... interesting that she initially claimed the hotel was fully booked only to back down and accommodate our simple and reasonable request - she somehow found that a room was available for us to move to!nThe young lady who checked us in was lovely and when I spoke with her after she told me the hotel was not fully booked at all...but the other lady was full of aggression and attitude. If you can't be hospitable, don't work in hospitality...maybe a motto she needs to learn. I spoke with two other members of staff in the morning, a gentleman on reception and a lady who was helping in the cafe/breakfast areas, both were very nice, apologetic and reassured me this treatment was not acceptable.nPlease can Travelodge staff when dealing with customers be positive, start with 'I will try to help you' and avoid unnecessary confrontations with customers? Also, don't put guests in room 518 which is very noisy due to being next to a generator perhaps this can be used as a cupboard ?
A non-pretentious hotel in the middle of the city near the main road above Lidl supermarket. Very modern things are new and clean elevators function well. Last staircase nothing to complain evening meal were in expensive and large portion size. I thought the Punjabi chicken and rice and Na that was very nice and spicy my husband two English beef in a pie, which was very nice as well. All in all, we were happy with our day although the weather was not ideal.
I stayed here for just under six months due to homelessness including over a Christmas period, the staff were all wonderful and without a doubt the best experience I've had while homeless for temporary accomadation. Couldn't fault anything truly wonderful bunch of people. I'm sure my dog Reginald misses them all.
I popped into the Travel Lodge with my daughter to use the bathroom. We had lost our way using GPS and felt pretty upset. The receptionist allowed us to use the facilities and was a perfect gentleman. We much appreciate his kindness.
