Nice little travelodge, right next to the church mouse so able to get some decent food.nI stayed in a disability room, due to back injury. Was very basic, not alot of place to put clothes out of case. An floor could have done with a decent clean as my white socks turned funny shade of brown on bottom. Other then that the room was really nice, wet room with shower was amazing.
Great location with a fab pub next door. The hotel was clean and comfy. The staff were all really friendly. It was a bit dated, but it was all we needed. Good parking, dog friendly, and a small outside smoking garden with a bench. Also good for late night doggy ablutions. I would stay again.
We stayed here for around 6 days as a central base for the area. We chose this as it had a pub attached, which was lovely and dog friendlynWe stayed in a dog friendly travelodge room and we thought the extra £20 per stay per dog charge was good.nA very friendly man checked us in and he really was a credit to the company. He was always cheerful, said hello to our dogs and you could tell he was always busy but with a smile, a lady was also present during our stay and she was also very kind.nThe room we stayed in was clean, tidy and had the basic TV, kettle, tea & coffee which was always available from reception if needing more.nThere was lots of room for our big dog beds and we felt relaxed and peaceful with our dogs, whilst there was an a road next to us, you couldn't hear the road from our room and the entrance was on the other side, facing a field of ponies, very cute!nOur only downside to the stay, was that the walls seemed a little thin and the doors spring loaded, slammed a bit. We were conscious of this and tried our best to not disturb other guests when taking our dogs for nighttime wees, however some guests were not as considerate despite signs on entrance to the rooms. A couple of nights during our stay, as I'm a light sleeper, I found myself struggling to drop off from other customers making plans for tomorrow in the corridor and nipping in and out each other's rooms. I am an incredibly light sleeper and doubt this would affect normal sleepers, once dropped off to sleep, however, I wasn't awoken by this noise. My partner also didn't struggle at all, a very heavy sleeper. We would come back and stay if in the area as we found the staff very friendly, the hotel clean and in a very central location for attractions such as: Beamish, Penshaw Monument, Durham, etc...
A rather tired looking example, however the lady on duty when we arrived, was the shining star, great customer service and went the extra mile to find us an extension lead for our CPAP’s.nThe downside in the morning was the poor water pressure in the shower, more modern travel lodges have none of these problems!
Reviewing hotels is based on experiences vs. expectations. Travel Lodge operate a 2* hotel chain with variations owing to age and architecture of the building.nnThis hotel is perfectly fine. What do you expect for £60? There are three restaurants in easy walking distance. The breakfast you can purchase is basic but does the job.nnThe important part is getting a good night's sleep and having as little interruption as possible. Location is excellent. Please note that other B&B options like the Church Mouse do not kick in early in the morning.
