Really helpful and informative staff, but the station itself has almost no facilities otherwise no shops or anything to get food from which is disappointing.nnToilets were in decent quality.
Station looked clean and well maintained. Local trains are frequent. Could do better with walking connections to the beach from the station.
Station was clean and when our train was delayed staff were helpful, however it was a very long walk to the centre of Torquay and not well signposted to tell you where to go when getting out of station - I think this needs looking at as other tourists looked just as confused as us! If you are disabled and have difficulty walking long distances you will definitely need a taxi from station.
Torquay is part of Torbay which includes Paignton, Brixham, Goodrington, Churston, Babbacombe and other areas situated around a huge sheltered bay. It is know as the English Riviera. It has traditionally been an upmarket resort but has lost out to foreign resorts in recent decades. It still has a couple of 4 star hotels and a plethora of other places to stay to suit every budget. It doesn't have a fun fair or a mile of brightly flashing amusement arcades. It isn't that type of place. Torquay is built on 7 hills the same as Rome. That makes it very picturesque. It has an international marina and a quaint harbour for smaller boats. It's shopping centre is a little run down like many towns. It's one of the UK's most popular tourist destinations.
No cafe. Toilets available. All weather cover. Nicely painted. A small station considering. Very pleasant and helpful staff. Seafront just across the road, 20 mins walk to town. Well located
