Tom Cobley Tavern

About

The Tom Cobley Tavern is a family run, friendly pub. We have a wide selection of fine real ales and ciders, along with traditional pub food.

Story

We pride ourselves on being a traditional family run pub, we offer a wide selection of ales and cider and good traditional pub food. We cater for a variety of palates and have a large vegetarian, vegan and gluten free food selection. The bar area is cosy and friendly and in the winter a lovely log fire is roaring in the corner. Dogs are welcome on leads and there is a plentiful supply of dog biscuits as most of the regular canine friends soon learn. Large parties catered for and if you are looking for something special we can normally accommodate the situation.

Really lovely pub. Much bigger inside with restaurant in the back. Delicious food, really friendly attentive staff and a great selection of cider. Wish we were staying longer to visit again. Food & drinks: Really extensive menu, really great option and thoroughly enjoyed. Really good homecooked meal.
Went yesterday for lunch. Wish we had been earlier on our holiday. Would have gone back again for sure.It was fantastic. Food excellent. Service brilliant. The landlord gave us advice on what to do today and we are going with all his recommendations. Definitely worth a visit.Service: 5/5
Such a lovely little pub, nicely hidden away. Menu is fabulous, vast and varied in content. There is a good vegetarian selection and the food was tasty and quickly delivered. The staff are super friendly and happy to help. Highly recommendedService: 5/5
A lovely pub in the heart of the Devonshire. Barman was super friendly and had some great advice about what ciders to try. Only had a drink but food smelt lovely. Definitely up for a return visit. Food & drinks: Plenty of ciders and ales available.
Great food and beers. The lady who who serves I think she's the landlords daughter is very genial and makes you feel your custom is appreciated. The landlord is also the same.Service: 5/5
Had Sunday lunch here yesterday with a large group 13 people. Very good experience, standard Sunday lunch, choice of turkey or beef as meat with good range of veg supplied. All meals served quickly even though the pub was full. Very good range of deserts.Service: 5/5
Popped in today as a walk-in for lunch. Even though the restuarant was fully booked we were accomodated in the spacious lounge with table.service thrown in. Sunday is Roast day and we were given the choice of Turkey, Beef, or a mix of both; both were tender and flavoursome. The meat came with roasties, yorkshire pud, carrots mashed swede, cabbage, and with the turkey the addition of pigs-in-blankets and stuffing. A good portion that left us both full. I need to mention the excellent celler that is kept here, with a good amount of expertise and pride. Good local beers on tap and well as the well stocked range of other drinks, but a veritable smorsgesboard of real Ciders still or sparkling, and real Perrys def not pear flavoured; important, I think, to make.that clear all on tap and numbering over 20 in all On top of everything this is a welcoming, family run, independant, tavern that deserves support. I highly recommend a visit, you are likely to want to return again and again. Many thanks for the welcome all, we will see.you again soon. Nearby activities: A wonderful little Devon village with roots far beyond the Doomsday book. Good local facilities and a beautiful parish church, which is bright and welcoming. Well worth a visit for both the village and the.local walks/countryside. Food & drinks: Great selection of restuarant and nbar meals with a range and availability for all
Visited twice in a week to this quintessential English pub where both meals have been perfect, service and friendliness is second to none and also have over 25 different ciders to choose from... Looking forward to going back! Thank you for your hospitality Service: 5/5
The landlord was really friendly and settled us in quickly. A great range of drinks - especially ciders. If you like big food portions, this is the place for you we however were defeated
Staff are very helpful, polite and friendly! Food is good and reasonably priced. Quirky old school pub. Good selection of drinks too.Rooms: 5/5
