If you're looking for a carvery around the Glasnevin area - do go for a bit of grub in the Tolka House. The carvery has a wide variety of carvery choices: ham, turkey, salmon, curry and let's not forget the choice of trimmings. The service was excellent and atmosphere was amazing on the day we visited. The pub was busy with people and no wait times for food. Would definitely recommend. Portion sizes are massive so be sure to bring the looser pants.
These lads are miles ahead with their sustainability projects. Waterless toilets . Recycling at every level. The food is excellent and the pints are perfect. As a barman myself I recognise top class operators. That’s what these lads are.
Had my mother's funeral afters there. Lovely beer garden beside river. Beautiful flowers done on arch in beer garden. Staff Lovely. Inside nice. To. Had dinner mash stuffing ham gravy veg. Wasn't nice. No flavour. Maybe just me. But others said Lovely. So everyone taste different.
Called in today after a ceremony at a local church- I recommended The Tolka House to the group as we eat there at least once a week as a family. It was a little after 12 and practically empty. We intended to mark the occasion with tea/coffee-a celebration cake and then have some lunch as a group of 7. We had previously been advised that reservations cannot be taken on a Sunday-which was fair enough. We opened a tab and ordered drinks. One of our party had to leave early so we asked for some plates to cut our cake. We were told permission would have to be sought first…a few moments later we were approached in a very indiscreet manner to advise “as he would put it-you wouldn’t bring a pizza to a restaurant to eat it”!!! We were stunned at the manner of delivery and lack of discretion involved-especially as there was a young child present whose celebration it was. Had we been asked to pay a cost towards plates etc. we’d have been more than happy to do so. So with a tearful 8 year old who had just been baptised-we paid our tab and left. The irony is not lost on us that we personally witnessed many tables in this establishment recently commandeered by numerous confirmation parties-all of whom had box cakes and balloons on the tables…so no consistency in their policy! Not one of us present today will ever spend another penny in The Tolka House-and we are all locals. Woeful customer service from management And very shortsighted indeed.
Great pub, good atmosphere, friendly servers. Great place to come for a drink and food, menu is decent and not too expensive. Very nice staff, accommodating and friendly. Lots of seats available and large projector screen with sports. Great atmosphere and nice decor. Beer garden in the back also very relaxed and lively. Nachos not am amazing, drizzled with a sweet sauce. Chicken wings fantastic. Guinness pour also great.

Very nice experience, Bar and service staff very friendly and diligent. Food was gorgeous and a super pint of Guinness most importantly. Very reasonable for 6 of us with drinks and food, would highly recommend
Sunday carvery is what it is... carbohydrates rule. I had a chicken and mushroom sauce on rice and asked for salad on the side. Chef seemed puzzled but offered spuds, chips despite the rice, peas, carrots etc. Desserts were bog standard and didn't appeal. Good service with nearly, but not quite, a smile.
Nice, clean pub with a good atmosphere and tasty food but there was no heating on so we had to leave. I know business energy costs are gone up but it was 4 degrees outside and probably inside and most of the customers had their coats and scarfs on shivering, making it a very uncomfortable experience. When we reported it to the staff, they didn’t seem to care that customers were leaving to go to neighbouring pubs due to the cold conditions.
Good night out, very clean pub, staff were lovely too
