Here at Toby Carvery Wolviston, we believe there's only one way to do our beloved British roast – and that's properly.

Story

When it comes to roast dinners, we really know our stuff. Every day our chefs lay on a feast of tender, hand-carved meats with all the trimmings – including towering Yorkshire puds, golden roasties with all those lovely little crunchy bits, and plenty of freshly prepared veg, all crowned with proper gravy. So it's no wonder we're Billingham's favourite carvery restaurant.

We went back to our regular Toby Carvery this evening, after it's major refurbishment. I have to say, it has been very sympathetically carried out, without losing it's original friendly feel. It is very fresh without being too modern, and has a much more upmarket atmosphere. It was great to see the lovely Annabelle and Kate, who always manage the fine balance between great banter, but total professionalism, thanks for welcoming us back!!

Lost count the number of times that I have been here. Always great. I'd strongly recommend booking in advance. Normally a long wait otherwise. Food is always spot on. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Drinks served almost immediately. Great place to go and eat!

We booked a table for Sunday lunch at 1.45pm for 4 adults and 2 children. We were running late as one member of the party was ill and had to return home, so tried to call out of courtesy to say we were running 10mins late - the phone was constantly engaged. We arrived at 1.52pm and joined the queue to be seated. When we reached the front we were told our table had been given to someone else as we were over 10 minutes late! This was because we'd been waiting to be seated for another 5minutes! I was actually pleased as it was so busy it could hardly be a pleasant dining experience and didn't fancy joining a second enormous queue for our meal. The food might be fantastic, but I'll never know as we won't be returning.

Food great and staff friendly, as always. On the down side, tables are starting to get tacky again and, I notice that the ceiling above the food serving area has not been freshened up for a few years. There is a remnant of a Christmas decoration that has been there for a couple of years.

My first ever carvery! I was a bit sceptical but was very nice. The best bit was seeing the wonderful waitress named Nicola and how she was so friendly and attentive especially to an older guest.. Management take note, she is wasted here! I only gave one star to get management attention.
