It was my first time back to Kings' arms since a revamp, but my last experience here was really disappointing, and even after a detailed complaint to Green King themselves who never acted on my concerns at the time regarding an employees bad attitude I was a bit apprehensive.nSo today, after a lot of years of distance,we decided to have a fresh start with the kings arms and give it another attempt.nWe only had a few drinks as they were really expensive. I had a pint of madri on draft, which was £5.80 very nice i have to admit, and my sister in law had a pint of John smiths, which was £4.85 . My better half had a bottle off prosseco, which was £24 pounds ,outrageous. We sat at table 201, which I would recommend if sunny .nI must stress that we did not order any food today, so experience only. I'm just really glad sunny weather was free .
We came here for Sunday lunch today. The staff were helpful, and we ordered both the turkey and beef roast, and just the turkey roast with drinks. The drinks came in good time, and the food followed around 15 minutes later. Unfortunately the food wasn't very good. The beef was quite tough, although the turkey was fine. The cauliflower cheese was nice, although my partner said hers was burnt around the edge. The Yorkshire's were a little tough, and dried out on top. I liked the roast potatoes. For me this was the best part of the meal. The parsnips hadn't been cooked for long enough as they were all tough. Not just Al Dente, but tough. Unfortunately the broccoli was even worse, with my partner not even being able to cut one of her broccolis with her knife! When our server collected our plates, she didn't ask how the meal was, so perhaps she already knew there were issues!?! Due to the number of issues, I would have to rate the meal as quite poor.
Excellent refurbishment.nPity the food quality remains the same. Very average no improvement.nPlease get a new chef and quality of ingredients.nJust been again and I can report that the food I had today was excellent. It's just a pity it was supposed to contain roasted peppers and onions but they bearly existed. Great chicken though and curry sauce.nSee the pic.nVisited again yesterday and had the steak pie.nIt was excellent full of steak compared with last time I had one.nSo improved!
Pizzas are always incredible, and the beautiful manager is always very helpful and charming. Fantastic place for food or for drinks. Always visit when I'm in the area. Keep up the amazing work Toni and the team!
Staff at counter had no manners, there was no please and no thank you, when approached bar to order food young lady looked at me and said 'yes' I assumed that meant can I help you? Service was fast, pub atmosphere was good, food good value for money tasted good. Table we ate from was sticky. Didn't stay long.
