Here at Toby Carvery Washington, we believe there's only one way to do our beloved British roast – and that's properly.

Story

When it comes to roast dinners, we really know our stuff. Every day our chefs lay on a feast of tender, hand-carved meats with all the trimmings – including towering Yorkshire puds, golden roasties with all those lovely little crunchy bits, and plenty of freshly prepared veg, all crowned with proper gravy. So it's no wonder we're Tyne & Wear's favourite carvery restaurant.

Without doubt the largest and best takeaway Sunday lunch I have had for years. Great selection of meat the non-fatty beef was excellent and a good selection of veg, generous portions. Food was fresh and hot when I collected it and it was ready to go at the stated time. No waiting for tables or standing in long queues at the servery. We'll definitely use this Toby takeaway again, and soon. Thank you.
Excellent Service. A good basic menu. Generous portions which were nice and hot. Good selection of choice and vegetables. In fact we were so pleased that we also ate there the following evening. We had a bottle of wine each time with our meal and it was reasonably priced as was the whole meal. We were in that part of the country having a two day break. I only wish there was a 'Toby' near where we live.
Good was lovely. The girl that served us was so friendly. Very professional. Didn’t make us feel rushed and was happy to explain how our voucher worked. Everything was lovely and clean. Serving area was spotless. Food nice and hot. Faultless.
Just had the best Christmas dinner take out for the family. Starters and mains were perfect, apart from forgetting to give us the pigs n blankets plus the extra we paid for to be fair we were stuffed we wouldn’t have fit them in. Thank you, you saved the stress at Christmas and everyone was happy. Well done!
Visited here on Saturday 21st and it was absolutely fantastic. We had originally went to the Sunderland Toby but left after 5 minutes. Service, food and staff are outstanding. Very clean, food tasted amazing and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The beef was cooked to perfection. My wife had the vegetarian option which tasted fantastic. We will definitely be visiting again. Vegetarian options: My wife had the vegetarian option and it was very nice indeed. The food all round is very good.
Be aware if offered a big plate at the carvery it costs you extra , this is not clear as they advertise a king size plate as extra not the big plate. Did mention this to the manager and waitress afterwords as being misleading even though I did not ask for a refund it ended in a heated discussion with them just saying " that's the way we do it" ! It's like calling a double bed a king size and putting a king size duvet over the top ! Oh and BTW the beef was fatty and rather chewy
Great food every time, the staff are lovely and very attentive. Only annoying thing in here is the tables closest to the bar on your left as you walk in. The lighting needs sorting out. On dark or wet days, it's that dull in that part of this place, I felt like asking for some candles so I could actually see what I was eating and who I was sitting with. I did ask a member of staff if they could turn up the light's but they said they didn't think they go any brighter. Other than that great food service and value of money.
Food was very good cooked very well would come here again!
Sam our server was very attentive and made sure we were happy with our food and drinks. He checked on us on a few occasions which was lovely. The only downside to our carvery was the beef which was quite fatty. The rest was beautiful and we will definitely be visiting again
Excellent meal. I had beef and gammon and my wife had beef and pork. Both carveries were lovely. Our server Donna and our carver Ben were first class. Too full for a desert. We will return
