The food was lovely and chef carving the meat. We were there for more than 2.5hours yet had finished the carvery part 40 minutes within arriving. Previous visits usually last around 1-1.5 hours yet we were there for nearly 3, there were empty tables so the restaurant was not at full capacity. The waitress had to be asked 3 times to take a dessert order and we then waited another 40 minutes for them to arrive, after asking twice. When they arrived one was burnt, rock hard with a black charred burns on top we as a toffee sponge. The custard which was poured over had been sitting so long it had set to a hard jelly with a think leather like skin. A replacement was offered and took another 10 minutes to arrive. The rest of the table had already finished. We then waited and waited for the bill despite asking for it again. Half out table had to leave so I asked the manager to give us the bill as we had been sitting there for so long now, and he acknowledges that at that point we had been there over 2 hours. In the end I asked the manger who put the bill on the table and walked off without a word, we then had to follow the waitress around the restaurant to the bar to get her to take payment. It was just a terrible experience and we will not be returning again.
The Christmas lunch was excellent. I loved the Salmon Wellington, everything appeared to have been cooked from fresh in an oven not microwave! Lovely food apart from the sprouts were hard, otherwise superb. There was a wait between courses but hey it was Christmas Day and Toby's was extremely busy, it didn't matter. Staff very obliging and helpful. Just a minor thing. A spoon AND fork would have been helpful with the dessert. The staff might have benefitted from something to collect the glasses in. Otherwise a wonderful experience, will certainly be visiting again. Thank you.
Food was nice, always get a lot as you can go up for seconds and the meats are nicely cooked but lost a star as we felt the dinner could have more flavour. Service was OK, nothing phenomenal as you go and get your dinner yourself in a queue. I booked a good table well in advance but we got stuck on a small one as nobody told us we could not have the table we booked until we arrived then we once asked our waitress to bring another drink and she did not seem happy. Also, waitress asked each of us if we'd like pigs in blankets and failed to tell us we'd get a bowl of them each so we could have shared one but ended up paying double. Atmosphere was sometimes at a nice noise level so we could speak but it was busy at times and they obviously had tried to get as many tables in as possible so when you're carrying your full, heavy plate of food back to the table it's lucky if it doesn't end up covering someone.
Work Christmas breakfast. Everything was perfect. Food - buffet style, lots of it, served hot and on the whole good value. Lots of space, plenty of hot drinks available. The staff work really hard keeping this busy place ticking over. A great start to the day.
First time going here and didn't expect much with it being a chain. But we went on a Sunday without a booking and they went out of their way to get us in. The staff were so friendly. As I didn't know how it worked, I was a bit anxious about ordering but they took their time and made it enjoyable. Every family was having fun around us too and the food was great. It was so worth the price and now a go-to Sunday roast for us. Can't wait to go again.
Ordered breakfast for the family to be delivered and what we received, in a sealed bag, was just ONE meal. I'm sure it's much easier for staff to just not bother giving people their full order and it doesn't affect staff because I can claim a refund for the meals they didn't bother sending, but perhaps think about the fact that customers have to wait up to TEN days to get their money back and in the meantime I've paid for a family to eat & we didn't eat, so I had to provide another meal for the family without money set aside to do so. It's not the first time we've had this experience so i wouldn't recommend using this place I certainly won't be back.
Our table was booked for 13.30. They were really busy. We booked in and waited. People were still coming to see if they could be seated. To start with they said , 15.40, We were seated by 14.45 They had to separate tables of 4 or 6, to seat all the tables of ,two people. Well they managed to clear most of the queue. To he waiters were very quick at clearing up the tables and cleaning them.
Absolutely awful food and service. They ran out of turkey so chose beef instead which was so fatty it was inedible. Roast potatoes were so hard I couldn’t get a knife through them. As we were choosing our food all we could hear was the staff out the back shouting to each other using the F word every other word! - really appropriate in front of our 2 & 4 year old! We were then left waiting for over 15 minutes to pay our bill as our server who apparently went to get the card machine totally disappeared! All other staff totally ignored us as they walked past. Ended up having to pay at the bar. Definitely will not be going back!
Always lovely and friendly in there. Love the vegan options. Last time I went the waiter was clearly new and didn't really know what was vegan or bother to go and ask someone but the chefs were super helpful when I went up there, staff are always super friendly and welcomingFood: 5/5
Me and my family booked a table of 4 and then separately a table of 3, asked when we arrived if we could be sat together, ZOE behind the bar acted like it would have been a real struggle, even though the place was basically empty. I also watched her as a large group approached the door some time later, she dramatically sighed just before they entered. She told us if it’s more than 6 I had to call but we did try and book online for 7 but wouldn’t let us- hence two separate bookings. Quite unprofessional. Food was good as usual
