Comfortable, modern hotel, good location. I appreciated the cleanliness and the peace and quiet. I was also happy that the room temperature could be increased by a thermostat in colder November days. Breakfast was delicious and so were other meals from the menu in the adjacent restaurant. The staff were kind and helpful. I'd definitely come back again.
Just had a brilliant fry up..unlimited fresh filter coffee for less than a tenner. Staff helpful and friendly despite being rushed off their feet.. prices are good..food is good. Breakfast served from 8am at the weekends! Will definitely return here. Well done.
I stayed in room 210 for a night, bought as a birthday present so I could enjoy a proper little break doing whatever I wanted after a difficult time. I was so happy to have a bath for a change, and the view on the river was very nice. The room was clean as was the bathroom and the bed was so comfortable, I slept so well. The hotel was quiet and I couldn't hear other guests very much at all. I checked in with no problem, the lady was very nice and explained everything I needed to know. Checking out was easy. I didn't eat in the pub this time around but I have done on many occasions before and have always thoroughly enjoyed it. I will happily stay here again, and am already looking forward to the next chance I get to do so, and hopefully I'll find the time soon to come back and eat in the pub again. Thanks for the great stay, it was just the rest I needed after a difficult time.
Honestly this is one of the friendly places to dine in Suffolk! Great and friendly staff! Kitchen manager who was doing the Carvery this evening was generally true gentleman! Made me and my girlfriend welcomed and notice he was making everyone happy and laughing when we got our food! Deserves a reward personally! Food was great just the rosemary and potatoes isn’t good mix personally but everything else was great! 10/10 will be back again very soon!
Lovely friendly staff and prompt service. Had my uncles wake here. An area was roped off for our use and the staff were very attentive and thoughtful. Tasty food and very good value for money. Looking forward to visiting again. Keep up the good work guys Wouldn't hesitate to recommend it, especially if you are using the hotel right next door which is very reasonably priced.
We had tea with Belle. They went above and beyond my expectations. So much effort was put into the event, my little girl had the best time. Although it was busy the staff were great friendly and helpful, the food was lovely and we didn’t have to wait long for it. Belle was amazing, and made my daughter star struck Thank you!
Lovely food with fast service and friendly staff. Minus one star for not having high chairs at the table when previously requested. When I then asked for highchairs only one was brought over. I have twins. I did laugh and went and found another one for myself. Nice little indoor and outdoor play area although could do with a little update. Outdoor seating available.
Good value. Being a first time visitor it would be good if it's explained you only get 3 slices of meat. When I asked for extra 1 , was told that wasn't in price . Ideally I would have had Beef, None available . The meal itself was tasty & plenty of it.

I booked a table but was not asked my name so it was a waste of time booking. It took10 minutes before a member of staff cam and asked if we wanted any drinks, as the same member of staff passed our table it took a prompt from my wife to actually get our drinks. We ordered our food and then waited another 15 minutes before our starters arrived, after the starters the mains came quickly afterwards. I had ordered some fries on the side and to get those once again we had to ask the staff what had happened with them, I had nearly finished my food before they arrived. This is only the second time I have visited the Mermaid and it will be my last, on my first visit the service was as poor as my last visit. The staff do not appear to have any idea how to serve people, they just wander around with no apparent purpose, we were not even asked how our food was.
