Went for a Sunday carvery lunch. Servers are very friendly and welcoming. Queue at the counter, then the chef carves your choice of meat. The veg, gravy etc are self service. The food was nice. A good variety of veg and properly cooked. Prices vary depending on the day you visit. On a Sunday, we found the meat portions very underwhelming for £12.49 a head.
A good value carvery. Meat beef, turkey, gammon and pork is always really well cooked and delicious. Love the big yorkies too. Veggies can be a little hit or miss depending on how long they've sat under the lamps keeping warm. That's pretty standard for this kind of thing though. Definitely worth a visit if you've not tried it before. I'll be back again soon. Oh and the gravy is fantastic.
First visit here, sadly it was very, very under par. We waited for literally 5 minutes for the manager to come back from serving the person ahead of us who wanted to sit in a particular room with a large group of people so he went off to see if he could fit them in, then no tables were available in the carvery itself so we happily sat at a pub table, we then went to get food and the guy carving the meat disappeared for another few minutes before returning with fresh Yorkshires, unloading them one at a time and then walking away again to take the tray back to the kitchen. After we had eaten my daughter wanted an ice cream sundae which was £2 and came with a choice of 5 different toppings - 3 of which could be chosen for the sundae. I ordered to be told no bananas, so I asked for double strawberries paid and sat down, then got told a few minutes later that there were no strawberries either so I paid £2 for ice cream and meringue pieces...I felt that was unjust and was unimpressed by the lack of commitment from the staff to make this any better, for example offering an alternative or a refund. All in all a poor, unpleasant experience which I do not feel I would be willing to experience again
Laura was most welcoming at the bar as she multitasked taking control of a fracas with 2 male customers , serving a large group of men drinks & ourselves who were selecting wine & food. She welcomed our dog & nothing was any trouble to her. She is an exemplary member of your staff team. Vegetarian options: 5 selections which sounded delicious for when we bring our vegetarian friends Kid-friendliness: There was a children's party lunch ongoing upstairs for 40 plus Parking: Disabled Parking Adequate adjacent to a ramp leading directly into dining area.
Breakfast was lovely as always we visit at least once per week for breakfast but have been for carvery also just as good. Plenty of choice. Great value for money. Most of the staff are lovely. Infact all of the floor staff are lovely and friendly. Parking: Plenty of parking but it is owned by a private company but you do have a 3hr limit. Wheelchair accessibility: There are parking spaces for Blue badge holders and they are right next to a ramp for easy access into the bar/restaurant. Plenty of tables on the level for wheelchair users.
We ate our Sunday lunch here one evening and really enjoyed our meal. Despite it being busy, we got straight in for a table. The server at the meat counter was extremely pleasant. The veg options weren't up to their normal standard, which was ashame. Although, the choice of meats, exceeded expectations.
Good food and very reasonably priced. The carvery we had was great as usual. Can't recommend the Toby Carvery enough. Thanks to Carol who was our waitress who was at hand with the questions we had. Overall a great service.Food: 5/5
Visited today and left within 5 minutes. One member of staff looked like they hadn't cleaned their uniform, another was leaning on the front yawning. There was a customer eating food while putting it on their plate, and dropping food from his mouth in to the veg, the guy carving the meat just stood and watched them do this. The cauliflower cheese and macaroni cheese had a skin over them. On the plus side the barman was really pleasant and seemed like he had washed. We left and went to Washington where the service and standards were a lot better.
The food is alqays nice. I did not enjoy my meal this time because of the heat, no exaggeration it was way too hot to even enjoy my food, i was worrying more about how much i was sweating, not nice when you dress nicely to go out. Air con would be a good idea or even open some doors
We were early for our booking but we’re given a table straight away. There was very little meat left when we arrived so my husband ended up with nothing to eat. The meat my daughter and I did manage to get was very poor quality. My 6 year old was given turkey with a lot of fat on it. The beef was full of fat and so it was too chewy to eat. The roast potatoes weee hard and dried out after clearly being sat out for far too long under the heater. The Pepsi from the machine was flat and so my husband also had nothing to drink. No one offered to get one from the bar instead.
