Went here for a roast dinner, portion size was good, meat cooked to perfection. Skin on chicken was a bonus.nnDecided to have a dessert too which I couldn't fault. Great combination of flavours.nnStaff were friendly and the place has a cozy feel to it.nnWe Will be returning.
Lovely pub, very pleasant atmosphere, dogs welcome, nice food, quick service and very friendly staff would 100% recommend to all, we will be returning.

It’s clear that care has been taken in choosing quality drinks.nnThe food is just as impressive. Everything we tried was delicious, well-prepared, and generously portioned. The menu has a good variety, so there’s something for everyone, whether you’re stopping by for a quick bite or a proper meal.nnAll in all, The Toad Rock Retreat is a great spot for good beers and good food. I would definitely recommend it and look forward to visiting again!
I had heard that the pub was under new management, so booked a Sunday roast on 7th September 2025 for myself and a friend.nnFrom arrival, the service was warm and friendly, without being overbearing, and the atmosphere was relaxed throughout our afternoon there. A great mix of customers, from families to friends and couples.nnWe both ordered a two meat roast, beef and pork, and were instantly impressed by the plating and portion size. Accompanied by great roast potatoes, a mix of seasoned vegetables and a cracking Yorkshire pudding, the meats were succulent, well cooked and full of flavour. The gravy was rich in flavour too, not something I always find at pub roasts! Definitely recommend the cauliflower cheese and stuffing sides too.nnEverything was delicious and I’m already looking to go back!
