I booked a holiday a year in advance. A nice trip to New York for me and my wife's 10 year wedding anniversary, all was well, check in and flight great. Got to the hotel, to find out it had changed names 6 months ago, they no longer have our booking on their new system. Thomas cook where aware of the change of ownership, but failed to change and update my booking accordingly. I am told, sorry sir we don't have that room, but for the inconvenience, we will upgrade you. Though we will have charge you for the room until booking is confirmed due to this mishap. What the actual F**k. How much, $918. So, I paid £2250 for the holiday, then $918, meaning my account at home was tanked of the remainder of my money and all my direct debits for that time of the month bounced. So I'm left with 8 missed direct debit charges, had to spend my first day there sorting out the remainder of my finances for the beginning of the following month so not to incur more charges. Called the branch, sorry nothing we can do, it's not our job to deal with it. To then call customer services, just to be told it can take 28days to sort, they didn't care it was my 10 year anniversary, that it was ment to be special and partially ruined by them and their mess up. To then say oh, here is £50 to spend on another holiday booked through us. Absolute jokers. Do yourself a favour, avoid at all costs. The level of service is a joke, customer relations care less than the branch staff, so any issues will remain issues. Appauling resolution, will be contacting a solicitor for sure.
