I have been sailing for a number of years and found some stunning locations. Torquay Yacht club is definitely one of the best locations for its ease of access. Boats are on the quayside and are easily launched from the slipway. Once out of the harbour you are protected by the magnificent Torbay. It has ample parking for a handful of Cruse liner’s and still holds national racing with ease. Car parks are available nearby allowing pay by phone Ringo App The club house is a beautiful old building near by looking over the bay. An ideal club all round.
Beautiful views. We went to a party being hosted there and I have to say the buffet was the best I've ever had, delicious, day fresh sandwiches with a selection of very tasty fillings to suit all. Very nice location, clean and pleasant environment
Just took part in the SB20 National Championship, hosted by the Royal Torbay Yacht Club. The club was very welcoming and friendly. The bar garden area has some stunning views and the food was excellent, even when cooking for large volumes.
Be sure to call in person when making a booking instead of using the website. My booking was cancelled very last minute the day before the course start after I already booked time off work, and travelled to Torquay especially for the course. The staff was unhelpful in resolving the situation, only offering a solution which suited their wallet and their timetable. When I asked for any degree of compensation for the trouble of having to re-organise my week, and travel again for an alternative date to complete the course, I was told that such compensation 'does not exist in the real world'. If you're looking to do the RYA Powerboat Level 2 course, try Torquay Watersports instead.
Fantastic club! Great racing and staff. They have thought of most things that you might need from a food timing point of view. Club could do with some renovation in some of the dinning areas and the wet room facilities. Otherwise a truely excellent place to sail in and out of.
Club house has fantastic views out over the harbour. Staff and members are friendly, helpful and welcoming. Food is good too. Sailing is well organised and well run The only problem is there is no control over the weather they get!
Just had a Sunday lunch at the yacht club. The menu was varied and catered for my vegetation fiancee. The food took a little while to come out but can be expected when cooked from fresh. Highley recommend!
I Love Royal Torbay Yacht Club. What a fantastic and friendly club, full of great people and welcoming members. Sailing events are extremely well managed and the facilities are fantastic. Visit for a championship or pop in and sit in the garden for a drink as the sun goes down. Many thanks for your hospitality.
This is a private members club. It serves excellent food at selected times. Well stocked bar. Friendly staff.
I am a member of this Yacht club and the current Commodore Adrian Peach is a most innovative leader. Since his inception I feel he has turned this club around. The RTYC has an amazing history from its first race on 11th September 1811! As a club it was granted an Admiralty Warrant to fly the defaced Blue Ensign in 1875. I am probably biased but its one of the best clubs I have belonged to. A warm welcome is extended to visitors both sailors and those frequenting the premises. There is a superb bar and Restaurant. If this is your interest go and see for yourself, you won't be disappointed. Book a meal and have a good look around. Enjoy!
