A group of us picked this place to stop for a late lunch after a weekend break in Camber, and it's a stunning old pub set in lovely countryside. The beer garden is a little odd, in that it'd divided by a big hedge the result being two quite pokey gardens instead of one big one - really not sure what the thinking is there. As for the food, we had a long wait as the kitchen was busy, which was fair enough, but what came really wasn't anything to write home about. I had a prawn cocktail and steak and ale pie, both of which were fine, and the consensus seemed to be about the same for the other dishes - fine, but definitely not great, and certainly not cheap either. This feels like a pub that could be absolutely wonderful but the strange beer garden and 'meh' food leave it somewhat wanting.
Well me and my partner have just been for lunch at This Gem of a place.. Been here several times and we are always welcomed by the Very attentive staff.. Finally got to try their Moules! Absolutely Amazing and very Fresh.. See you soon..10/10 ..
Lovely pub with really good food. The portion sizes are very large and well worth the prices. Staff were also very welcoming and attentive.
Lovely 15th century pub. Dog friendly in the front and restaurant at the back. Open wood burning fire. Lovely friendly staff. Just watch your head if tall!
Absolutely stunning old place. Staff are so friendly and welcoming and the food was AMAZING!!!!!! Totally recommend stopping off here.
Only had coffee and some delicious desserts but loved the ambience and it was warm and cosy inside in the bar. Staff were friendly and I will be back to sample the beer now I have discovered this pub.
We had issues with incorrect opening times on their website and on their board but having given up, a reply to our Google review meant we tried a third time and it was a charm. Probably our best meal out in the area, the pub is very old and has lots of character for it. The food was decent, with a fair few options and all reasonably priced. We particularly liked the sticky toffee.
5 star great service from.start to finishing. The food was amazing and big portions. We went on the Saturday has steak was amazing hot delicious and then the Sunday for the roast which was absolutely best I've had. Absolutely spot on 10 out of 10
Lovely pub, the food we had was good and great value. Only not 5 stars because of the limited number of real ales on... One! And I wasn't sure that was the best. Very friendly.
Lovely friendly pub and food excellent. Very popular place. Pub soon filled up. Definitely returning. Good car park too.
