Story

The Woodthorpe is situated on Bury Old Road Prestwich next to Heaton Park. It is a 19th century Victorian property formerly the family home of Sir Edward Holt, it was later converted to a pub/hotel in the 1950s. Dine in the cosy and traditional bar area, or the luxurious Carvery and Function Room, which is available to hire for any occasion. There is a full range of traditional Joseph Holt real ales, together with carefully selected quality wines from around the world to complement our premier food menu. It also has a superb outdoor heated and covered terrace with beer garden for outdoor socialising.

I've been to The Woodthorpe several times for either a meal or drink and never been disappointed. It has a nice warm atmosphere. So it made sense to  book the function room when I needed the right place for family and friends to gather after a funeral. They did not disappoint. The room was perfect, had it's own private entrance and bar. It was clean and bright and even had a garden at the back. There was plenty of choice for the buffet and it was all reasonably priced and presented. The staff really looked after us and I'm so pleased. I'd recommend it for any occasion, wedding, birthday, Christening etc. Plenty of parking space and proximity to the motorway network are an added bonus.

Great service at the pub  Came here for the first time after 8pm and unaware we were looking at the food menu and a staff member that noticed this, came straight away to inform us very politely that the kitchen had already closed and saved us the disappointment before choosing the food  Looking forward to trying their delicious looking dishes next time! Had a lovely time anyway with just drinks

Just had boxing day dinner and it was very disappointing. Booked for 4pm and didn't get starter until 4.55. potato and leek soup was very weak and over reduced, I had prawn cocktail and it had a garlic mayo that overpowered everything else.nThe main arrived 45 mins after the starters were taken away, I had the beer battered fish and chips, there were about 10 chips and the fish was greasy and over cooked and no beer flavour. The others had turkey dinner and the turkey was so dry it had nearly turned to dust! Everything was either dry or greasy. The only things that were ok were the deserts, which were just about average.nConsidering we spend nearly £200 it was no very good at all.

Friendly and attentive bar-staff, and the 19th century? building is looking particularly, seasonally pretty; but all is somewhat marred by the wall-to-wall GB'News' channel everywhere you cast your eye. I felt uncomfortable both times Ive been, so not for me.
