The Woodman

Story

The Woodman is a public house on Albert Street in Birmingham, England that is Grade II listed. It stands beside the Eastside City Park and the abandoned, but listed, Curzon Street railway station.HistoryThe building was built in 1896 and 1897 with the purpose of being a public house for the Ansells Brewery. It was one of the small corner pubs designed by James & Lister Lea. The building is built from red brick and terracotta with a slate roof. Both the ground and first floor have narrow windows above the entrance, but with wide windows with brick mullions. Since its construction the pub has featured a large amount of tiling inside and large mirrors that are both gilded and engraved. There is still a "Smoke Room", although its original use is now prohibited by law, which again has the original Mintons tiling and seating.

Can't wait for this to reopen. Miss it terribly. A welcome change from Town's samey pubs. Tasty food too.
Very traditional English pub next to Millennium Point. It is small, but full of character.
Nipped in the Woodman before watching the not so mighty Ipswich play Birmingham City. Intended on just having one before moving on but stayed here for 2 hours! Excellent choice of ales, very well priced and very well kept! It won't be the last time I frequent this place :
Visited with friends who have been before as they all enjoy real ales. We had a lovely afternoon in this relaxed old fashioned pub. Food was excellent I had a roasted vegetable sandwich with chunky chips. Fantastic value at £5!! Will certainly pay another visit at some point. Bar staff were friendly and attentive.
Excellent traditional pub located next to the spot where the new HS2 station is being built, excellent ales and a very knowledgeable bar manager
Nice chicken breast Burger with a local ale
Excellent beer selection and a good pub for a summer's pint
Classic old pub, next to Curson st.station and millennium point..visited in summer and sat outside, and it sure is a different modern City from that vantage point!Good drinks selection and food reasonably priced for the location. Could sit there all day!..well worth a visit
A great pub with plenty of choice. Good food at reasonable prices. Will gladly go back when in that part of town as a was last week.
