The Wonky Table Restaurant

Story

The Wonky Table is situated in the historic Cathedral Quarter on Sadler Gate. We are an independent family run establishment with all its employees having worked together previously and deciding to go it alone to provide a more friendly service to our guests.

We pride ourselves on being flexible, and are quite spontaneous in changing our menus as we enjoy creating new dishes. We operate over two floors, the ground floor is very lounge like and cosy with a quirky edge to it, the second is more vibrant and spacious ideal for large groups and private hire. We also have just opened our rear sun terrace which is perfect for al fresco dining.

We believe in using local produce whenever possible and only the freshest ingredients. We use Derby market for our fruit and vegetables, our fish is delivered fresh from Grimsby and our meat supplier generally only uses regional farmers. Most of our sauces and all of our chutneys are made on the premises.

A wonderful restaurant with such an amazing, quaint, intimate atmosphere, and absolutely fantastic food. Faultless, personal service with staff that welcome you personally, and care about your requirements throughout the meal. 5 Stars
I’ve heard so much about The Wonky Table, past it a few times, read up on reviews. Last night I tried it and it did not disappoint!! Very quirky, home-feel restaurant. Limited Menu but with some great options. The food was great and the service too. Would recommend, definitely. Thank you
Pretty odd experience here last night. Starter of lamb kofta was subpar, lamb had a very synthetic taste. The taste, shape and texture suggested it was from a packet. Salad was drowned out by the sauce. This made for a very unpleasant taste alongside the sharp cheese. I didn't finish this. The main was a massive dissapointment. Pork belly, with Irish champ which was absolutely swimming in grease. See picture, just look at the plate it is drenched in fat and oil and grease. There's no excuse for that at all. Got halfway through and just couldn't finish. To their credit they offered to put the desserts on the house and after some persuasion by the waitress we tried a dessert. The key lime pie was nice. The head waiter seemed to want to plant himself about a yard away from our table awkwardly. The waitresses seemed nervous around him. Not a pleasant experience at all and not one I could recommend to anyone. Giving 2 stars as they did at least attempt to correct the mains issue.
Beautiful restaurant, they have special prices during the week. Nice selection of dishes, drinks menu is good and cocktails taste great.

Came her on NYE and the service and food was incredible. We had only eaten here once before and it was many years ago. We and a set menu which was such great value for money and we keep saying how we need to come back for me!! Nice atmosphere and extremely tasty, locally sourced food. Really enjoyable experience.
Staff are very friendly. Saying that the food was amazing us an understatement. If you are looking for somewhere to eat in Derby this place should be on the top of your list!

Booked for a family Christmas dinner. All members of the family enjoyed the lovely unique festive food and décor, great ambience. Despite the place not being too large it felt quite spacious and were given time to enjoy the night. The festive cocktails were also great but caused me to forget to pick up some family Christmas cards. Joe was great, during his own break he took the time to post the cards back to me. Being over three hours away this was a great help. Great staff! Can't wait to visit again.
