Stopped for lunch with dog. Bar area dog friendly. Good pint and tasty food. Two pints and two main meals £45
I can't fault this place!! Whilst it was really busy when I arrived at 6:30pm on Sunday, the staff were still extremely friendly, attentative and the food arrived in good time. It was well presented and tasted great too. Can recommend the calamari or hollumi cheese bites starters. For mains we had the Sunday roast. Whether having the Trio of roasts, or the Turkey dinner, it was faultless. The vegetables were cooked perfectly and was collectively plentiful to fill you! Update 12th Feb 2022 - went for their Valentines Menu it was available Fri, Sat and Mon. Cracking choice of food for all three courses and extremely well presented. One slight suggestion would be to make it feel a little more romantic. There was no additional decorations not even a red rose on the table. Appreciate it a pub / restaurant too, but with minimal effort, it would have created a different ambience. First rate service and food again though. Well done!!!
We really enjoyed our early evening meal at The Rose and Crown. Good menu with plenty of choice - something for everyone. Our meals were excellent and good value. Finishing with banoffee pie and a nice cup of coffee. Super staff, very considerate, with time for the customer. We will definitely return.
We called in for a quick drink…but the food coming out of the kitchen looked amazing …so couldn’t resist trying the homemade chips ..and they didn’t disappoint ..just as I remember them grown up …we will defiantly be going back ..
Really lovely. Good choice of great food, well presented and plentiful. Excellent range of traditional beers etc. Very pleasant accommodating staff.
My partner and myself decided to go for her late birthday meal. Pleasant welcome and nice looking place. However when we were seated the tables had dirt in the grooves and on the seats. We had a starter each which was nice and main meals of fish, chips and mushy peas while my partner had chicken and pancetta pie, chips and veg. It was nicely presented and tasted good, however halfway through my partner found a piece of steel wire scourer in her pie. We notified another, who was doing a good job, and he took the food to show the chef. A few minutes later he came back and said the dish wouldn't be on the bill and apologised repeatedly. We reiterated it wasn't his fault and told him not to worry and the manager should be dealing with the issue, which never happened. The table cleanliness needs addressing urgently and alot more care needs to be done on food preparation because if a young child were to have swallowed it things could of been alot worse. We were disappointed as to why the manager didnt sort the issue out and left it to the server.
The pub the atmosphere and surroundings are lovely to go to for a drink. However, the food was very disappointing. We had Sunday roast and was all very underwhelming. The meat I wouldn’t have given to my dog. It was so fatty all the way through and hardly edible. The parsnips were tasty but really really hard you couldn’t bite through them. In fairness we did complain and got a complimentary pudding but the sticky toffee pudding had barely seen stick toffee! It’s was dry with lumpy custard. We had really high hopes for such a nice venue but I can’t recommend you the food is awful!
The restaurant is lovely, nicely presented and comfortable. The service was excellent. We were served by Jay and she really took care of us. I would like to see more options on the menu though. The food is very good, but limited menu if you want to go regularly.
While the food is always good the service continues to be poor. The table had previously been booked for 5 people but was only set for 4 on arrival. A soda water to accompany wine was ordered but a bottled soda arrived. This was taken back but the soda water only came after another request. A second half of lager was ordered but a pint was brought. The waitress said she would only charge for a half but this was not changed on the final bill.
Two couples choosing the Valentine's menu, one of us wanted a glass of fizz and was asked if not wanting a bottle as it works out cheaper! Stuck with the one glass and received a glass of white wine unchilled and when taking it back to the bar was told that it was definitely a Prosecco as she had poured it herself from a bottle. Well it definitely was not a Prosecco but did not let this weirdness ruin our evening. The meals were good and worth having, just a shame that my wife could not get the one glass of fizz she wanted
