Came here for afternoon tea. It was fairly decent. The sandwiches were nice, scones were really fresh and tasty and the desserts were ok. I didn’t think it was particularly outstanding but it was tasty. Some of the desserts were a little too sweet. I enjoyed the hot chocolate. Service was great, our waitress was lovely and gave us gold recommendations for tea. She kindly let us takeaway our leftovers too and wrapped up an extra person for our friend who couldn’t make it.
We've been to The Wolseley several times to enjoy both the experience and the food. It's always a lovely place to visit due to the excellent and attentive staff who make every guest feel special. The location itself on Piccadilly also helps as it's quite dramatic and feels nothing like a car showroom! The food in this grand café is also memorable with dishes ranging from scallops to steaks and everything in between. We certainly enjoyed our brunch although our teenage children were less impressed. Perhaps the meals on offer are best appreciated by an older clientele? The only downside is that you can definitely feel the effects of wage and food inflation when you come to pay. We ended up spending over £300 for five people with no alcohol which is not something that you can do everyday. So come to The Wolseley for the special occasion and you shouldn't be disappointed. Parking: Given that The Wolseley is situated in the centre of London you'd be better off arriving by public transport. Still there is on-street parking in the vicinity for a price.
It's a very nice looking place and the staff were pretty good, but in short I felt the food was very underwhelming for the price. I know it's in an expensive area, but to be honest I felt like it was a bit of a rip off. I'm no stranger to a £200-300 bill for dinner in central, but this was totally not worth it - skip and go to one of the many great restaurants in London. We shared 1 beef tartar to start was the only genuinely tasty thing, 2 mains, mashed potato and fries side, ~£15 glass of wine each and a beer each at the bar while we waited, it was £173. Minus tip that's about £100 for the food in the photos, it's just too high for what it is and to say I enjoyed it. My duck leg was something around the £30 mark, the skin was nice and crispy but that's all I can really say positive about it. Nothing bad, just nothing great, no sides and little flavour. Chicken schnitzel was nice and moist, but again nothing to write home about - for £20+ I expected something more.
Not bad. But not the best food I've had for the price. Escargot we're good size but lacked flavour. The fruit de mere had sand in the clams. Quite gritty but sauce was niceFood: 4/5
A nice restaurant but quite overhyped. We were expecting a bit more from the food and whilst they all tasted good... that's it. Just good. Nothing special or amazing that would make us want to return regularly. The veal chop in particular was tasty but so salty that you end up drinking lots of water for the rest of the night. The desserts we tried are, again...just OK. I know it's a popular place and you can tell by how busy it always gets but we just don't see what the big deal is. The service was very good, in theme with the traditional vibe of the establishment. The atmosphere itself felt quite similar to a typical pub. Very very loud and you get to smell all of your neighbours' dishes as soon as you enter through the door. There's no sense of intimacy or class, as you'd expect. In our opinion, it also looks a lot better in the photos than in real life. Overall we were quite disappointed and will not be returning here for the foreseeable future. The bill inc. service charge came to £224 for the two of us. You can double this if you like to drink.
This restaurant exudes elegance and sophistication, with its beautifully arched ceilings and opulent interior design. The ambiance is both warm and refined, making it an ideal setting for a memorable dining experience. The attention to detail in both the decor and the service is evident, creating an atmosphere that is both inviting and luxurious. Whether you're enjoying a meal or simply soaking in the surroundings, this restaurant offers a perfect blend of comfort and class.
Portion sizes very small and not true to some of the pictures I've seen on google. The staff seemed obsessed with not letting you touch your chair but offered no other interactions beyond that I ordered the french toast which was small with only two triangles so £13.50 for one slice of fried bread and my partner ordered The English which was a despicable size too We were so hungry we ordered the kedgeree too, which was a lot better albeit the rice was a little undercooked. Whilst the decor is nice it seems that the atmosphere is all that you really pay for. In all honesty you'd be better off having breakfast at your own hotel buffet.
Food was good, but not incredible. Service was kind of slow and unorganzied. Drinks were excellent though. Seared scallops were tasty with a lot of lemon flavor. French onion soups were good but needed more cheese. Schnitzel had a great taste to it but frankly they dried it out.Food: 4/5
We wanted to try the afternoon tea once in London in a fancy setting without making a hole in our pocket so tried the Wolseley. Much to our surprise they let us share it, so at $50 for 2 ppl it felt like a deal. While the restaurant decor itself is stunning, the food was a mixed bag. We ordered the Vegetarian Afternoon Tea and loved the sandwiches. The tea and scones were also decent but the pastries were just average. Overall a good experience for the price.
Amazingly well picked eggs Benedict. Highly recommended at least once in a lifetime if you are in London. I was amazed with the density of the yolk! Service can be improved in comparison to other eateries.
