Our first visit to Fortnum & Mason for afternoon tea was something we had always dreamt of, and while the food did not disappoint, the service sadly did. The setting was elegant, and the variety of treats offered was delightful, but our experience was overshadowed by the service. From the moment we were greeted by a waiter who seemed utterly disinterested, it was clear that customer service was not a priority. We found ourselves constantly having to call for attention, which detracted from what should have been a seamless experience. To top it off, when we requested takeaway boxes, we were met with looks that made us feel as if we were doing something wrong. For a place renowned for its tradition of afternoon tea, we expected far better.
Came for vegan afternoon tea for my birthday. The sandwich selection was very good, the scones were divine. Sandwiches included coronation tofu and seitan. However, there was an issue with the second round of sandwiches containing something they shouldn't - a small mix up in the kitchen, I assume. The duty manager dealt with this in an efficient and professional way. The level of customer care from her was outstanding unsure of her name but she had perfect winged eyeliner! She wouldn't even let us pay the service charge in the end although we did leave a tip. Although it was a small blip it was an important one which she recognised. The only other negative was my husband wasn't asked if he wanted any more tea, whereas I was brought hot water for a top up automatically. None of this would stop us recommending it. The tea room staff were very, very good. Shame the same can't be said of some of the ground floor till staff!
Nice experience but not worth the high prices. I’ve honestly have had better high teas outside the UK so my expectations were perhaps too high. Staff was nice. Jubilee Salon is on the last floor so be prepared to find the elevators through the crowds on the chaotic first floor. My mom has to eat fat free foods and they cannot accommodate that restriction - not a complaint just an fyi.
We have just had the most amazing afternoon tea at Fortnum and Mason. Not only was the food incredible, the staff went above and beyond to ensure we had the best experience. In particular Erik and Elena were fabulous and we are already looking forward to our next visit!
Excellent across the board, the hostess and waiters' service was second to none. We were looked after and attended to from start to finish. As for the food, it was exquisite! 10/10. The table is held for a maximum of 1h30 but the service was very timely from taking orders to serving the food. Will definitely go back to try their brunch which sadly ended at 12pm, so we had to order à la carte. No regrets whatsoever on what we ordered. Every dish was delicious and flavoursome.
It's my first time to have afternoon tea at Fortnum and Mason. Upon reaching the 4th floor, we are welcomed by a spacious waiting area and lovely staff. We are then seated by the window and assisted by a helpful wait staff. There are several options for the afternoon tea, which can be regular, gluten-free, or savoury. We are a group of 6, and we all opted for the regular. This option comes with 2 pots of teacan ve of different flavours for the entire experience. I chose the black tea with vanilla and instantly loved it. The pastries and sandwiches were served. One of the eait staff explained all of the food to us. They all looked too good to be eaten but equally tasty. The sandwich I liked most was the trout which came in a dainty pink bread. There are also several scones-plain and fruit - to be paired with smooth clotted cream and 2 pots of jam-one strawberry and lemon curd my personal favourite. Initially, the serving looked small, but we could not even finish what was served and were offered more sandwiches. I also like the vibe of the place. It is not too strict but you would feel some exclusivity. Overall I liked the whole experience but only scored 4 because my company felt like they were being quizzed and quite uncomfortable by the wait staff.
WOW. Be ready for a hefty price and some amazing amazing tea. The waiters are all very kind and the food is delicious and traditional. They give you infinite refills on all the pastries and the food they cook is just perfect. This place is amazing because of how nice the atmosphere is and how British the tea tastes. Make sure to visit if you are ever in town.
I brought my friend for afternoon tea for her 40th birthday. We have had afternoon tea in many places and so far, this has been the best. The tea room is situated on the top floor of Fortnum and Mason and is beautiful. There is a person playing piano near the entrance as well as stunning decorations. We were greeted and seated by a lovely member of staff. The table setting was beautiful and our server was very attentive. The great thing about this afternoon tea is that each person gets one of every cake. We have been to afternoon teas where we had had to cut things in half in order to try them as you only get one of each. I have never liked macarons but we were gifted a macaron each and they were divine, the first macaron I have ever enjoyed! A lot of the things that they serve can also be bought downstairs in the shop. The food was superb as was the tea. It was also one of the most expensive afternoon teas despite not having champagne but it really was worth it for a special occasion.
Wonderful afternoon tea experience! My friend and I traveled from the United States for a friend vacation to London! An afternoon tea was on our list and the Diamond jubilee tea salon did not disappoint! Adorable, tea environment with delicious food!
The atmosphere was lovely but we would probably not return for the food as it was underwhelming and not worth the price. We did not like the pâtisseries from the Savoury Afternoon Tea menu at all... Those flavours should be reevaluated. The chairs need some revamping. We did enjoy the tea and recommend the Jasmine Green Tea and Queen Anne.
