When I first saw the menu online I was a bit apprehensive - didn’t excite me. However I can say this is a hidden gem of a place! The food was outstanding - they take classics and just elevate them to a new level! I loved the chilled easy going vibe, I loved the service and the slightly old school way of serving! Honestly, this is a perfect place for a date night, had so much fun here
A lovely afternoon tea at a hotel restaurant. It’s a short walk from Green Park and St James’ Park, but it’s located at a little mews tucked away from the busy high streets. The dining room is comfortable. All waiting staff are very helpful. Food and presentation were nice. They opted for rectangular plates instead of round ones. Their ‘vegetarian’ option was a bit underwhelming. I notified my preference when I booked about a week ago, and again on the day. What they gave me was two of salmon sandwiches and two of egg & tomato sandwiches. They essentially took out coronation chicken and roasted ham sandwiches, filled their place with the existing ones. In short, they don’t have vegetarian options. I wonder what would happen if you said you were a vegan… 4x tomato sandwiches? The room had a hint of some smell, perhaps cologne or spray. We initially thought someone was smoking outside and the smell had seeped through to our seats, which was near the entrance. We are both very sensitive to tobacco They happily agreed to move us to a table further in the back. We still smelt the thing. My conclusion: it’s just the smell of the room. Something smoky in one of their products they use. Honestly, all the ‘luxury’ hotels in London spray so much smelly stuff in their lobby, this one was quite sensible in comparison.
What a treat. Excellent food in a beautiful setting. Staff are attentive & very polite. We ate beautiful tuna nicoise, frothy sweetcorn soup, duck pie & suckling pig followed by the most delicious banana eclair with warm caramel sauce you wanted to drink. The very knowledgeable sommelier matched wines for us which were delicious. An evening & meal of very fine quality which we thoroughly enjoyed. 1 or 2 of the staff had very slight lack of knowledge but were still kind & professional ensuring we had everything we needed.
We went for afternoon tea for a birthday celebration, which is a yearly tradition of ours, so we tend to try a lot of different places. We were served by Melek and Rani and they were very friendly, attentive and kind. We felt welcome and stayed a few hours without feeling the pressure to leave, which usually occurs in other establishments. The seats were comfortable and the ambiance of the room was relaxing. They also accommodated our friends food preferences, which was very kind of them to do as the menu was a set menu.
I spent the evening at the Game Bird with my family and I will start with how lovely and friendly the service has been. The atmosphere was so nice and elegant as well as warm and welcoming. We started off with their winter cocktails which come in a cute menu full of seasonal variations. They were all very enjoyable. To talk about food, they firstly treated us with these beautiful brioche buns served with butter and salt. They were so soft and fluffy. We ordered two starters with the thought of sharing them but each starter came in one small piece and were not shareable at all. It is common to order a few different things to share so we would appreciate if that was made clear for us beforehand. We had sirloin steak which was so delicious however, unfortunately, had quite nervy sides that were incredibly hard to chew. I ordered the duck pie which was very nice. The chips and cheesy garlic mushrooms were also very delicious however, again, not shareable size. Considering the price range and elegancy of this fine restaurant I would expect to not encounter these problems. However, definitely a good experience and would recommend a visit.
We stopped for a late lunch without a booking. We were wearing trainers and denim seated among suited professionals, and the staff treated us with the same attention and courtesy. Each course was an elegant presentation. Our meal was a memorable experience in addition to being uniquely delicious. We highly recommend The Game Bird and hope to return soon.
Can I give 6 stars for service? I would! Cromton was our server and was so so amazing. Friendly, attentive, and very helpful. He made our visit so enjoyable. The food was wonderful. We had a traditional cream tea with sandwiches to die for and cakes that were amazing! Such a highlight of our trip. Gluten free option for my companions were perfect! Highly recommended! Dietary restrictions: Gluten free options that were amazing!
I had a fantastic dinner at The Game Bird, Luca, Giacomo, Eugenio and all of the team provided excellent service. The food was absolutely amazing, I highly recommend the Dover sole portions were great, wine and cocktails were just as delicious. The whole experience was top notch! 100% recommend, I will be coming again!
Checked online and they were voted the best afternoon tea in London, thus went to try and was with high expectations.. but.. it was horrendous.. cannot even take an extra bite of the scones or sandwiches.. scones too dry.. sandwiches too hard.. chocolate don’t taste like chocolate… tea tastes like paracetamol.. ruined my experience of traditional afternoon tea in London.. only plus has to be the atmosphere..
We had an afternoon tea at Game Bird. Beautiful place! Everything was delicious! We liked it so much that we decided to come back for a dinner and loved it as well. Highly recommend The Game Bird!Food: 5/5
