Have been going here to eat for over 40 years and its been reliably good every time I've visited. Traditional silver service restaurant, low beams and cozy atmosphere. Excellent menu with plenty of choice. Good attention to detail and the service is slick & attentive without being OTT. Lovely well-cared for garden to sit outside in warmer months. Highly recommend.

Lovely pub.... Sunday roast is gorgeous. Nice private little booths built into hedge in garden... a delightful little place.

Have been coming here since the 80s with my family, the cosy atmosphere is so relaxing.. a classic old English Inn, the food is consistently good. There is a beautiful garden out the front a must in the summer. Advance booking is advised.

I’m wondering if this is a case of the emperor’s new clothes? Do people go here for a special lunch and then do not want to admit to themselves that the food is bad as it is so expensive? I couldn’t eat my starter of scallops drenched in acidic sauce with a completly wrong texture. I genuinely felt like I was in an episode of kitchen nightmares and expected Gordon Ramsey to come out at any time to point out how bland and mediocre the food is! I was looking around at other diners and watching the tuck into badly cooked, badly presented, bland and sauce swamped food without a care in the world. My favourite part was that the menu said something about west end food.... to me this is delusional and absolutely outrageous! It’s a lovely old building that could do with some new furniture and some modern tablewear to shake of the OAP atmosphere.The staff are lovely so that is probably why they get away with this.
