We held my mums funeral reception at The Withies, the location was great, within an easy distance from Guildford Crematorium and easy access to the A3. As the weather was good, everything was set up in the lovely garden under parasols. The food was really good and was presented really nicely. Hugh and his team were excellent.
Dreadful. Incredibly expensive food in small portions, warm wine, warm drinks. We were instructed to move from a table with no reservation sign, as there were ‘regular’ patrons who ‘requested’ the table specifically. Is our money not worth the same as everyone else’s? We made no fuss and moved so as not to cause any issue, when really we should have stayed put. I called expressing my dissatisfaction with this experience, and was told not to return because I declined the managers pathetic conciliatory offer of ‘a free drink’. If you enjoy quality service, look elsewhere - this establishment is not what it used to be under his father.
The Withies Inn is a real gem! Ten of us gathered to celebrate my mother's 90th birthday. We had a family day out, then supper and stay at The Withies Inn. It was perfect! Hugh is a great host and his staff provide great service. The place has a genuine, old world charm and the outdoor space is delightful. The rooms were fresh and well-appointed. We will return. Rooms: The rooms were well appointed and appeared to have recently been refurbished. The bed was very comfortable. Gail ensures the rooms are clean and is happy to help if you need anything. The rooms at the back are very peaceful. Nearby activities: We hired a canal boat from the Farncombe Boat House and had a day out on the beautiful River Wey. Highly recommended for a family activity. Food & drinks: A wide range of options on the menu to suit all requirements in our party. Delicious home-made cooking. We ate well at supper and at breakfast.
17th century pub hidden away off the main road, full of character. I was there for a wake and the staff were really kind and sensitive. Would like to visit in happier times.Service: 5/5
Amazing place, food was lovely, was too cold when we were there to sit outside, however, the outside area is beautiful, we will be back in the summer to sit out. Very traditional old pub inside, great atmosphere. Limited parking outside, guess there must be more parking on the road for the size of venue.Rooms: 5/5
Absolutely stunning old pub, oozing old world charm, with the most delightful garden and sun soaked courtyard. The food looked and smelt fantastic although unfortunately we were too late for lunch. Wow! Will definitely be back!Service: 5/5
Had a very nice lunch here yesterday. Certainly a quaint wee place which was very busy .. always a good sign.Service: 5/5
Fabulous pub serving delicious food in an historic setting. Slightly quirky feel but great atmosphere and wonderful service . Highly recommended. Service: 4/5
Disappointed with the ploughman's, ingredients ok but no effort put into making it interesting or enjoyable. A shame as normally the food is excellent.
We had my father’s wake at this lovely old pub. Hugh could not have been more helpful when planning the wake. We arrived early as the weather was extremely cold and the staff were superb. There was a booked gluten free platter for a guest which was so thoughtfully laid out and the food for the wake was excellent. I’m not sure anything was left! Thank you to all the staff for being so brilliant to all of our guests. Everyone was very impressed with the staff and the food and we will be def coming back again. Many many thanks.
