We went here on Thursday afternoon and had the 3 course date menu for two. Place looking bit tired and in need of a freshen and lick paint. Waitress was attentive and friendly. Madri is on tap and a decent pint. G&T for the misses. Starters one Calamari and one Cauliflower wings. Both served hot and tasty. Steaks next, I had a medium cooked Sirloin, perfect. Partner had rump, slightly overcooked and bit chewy. Skinny fries and lettuce wedge as standard. Deserts two sticky toffee puddings. Bit stingy on the sauce. Overall 4 stars.
The food was average, deserving a 6/10—nothing particularly bad, but it lacked flavor and could certainly be improved. What stood out as unprofessional was the waiter sitting at our table to share his personal wine preference, despite us not seeking or wanting such advice.nnAdditionally, I had called ahead during the booking to confirm if it was acceptable to bring a birthday candle. I was assured that a candle would be provided and that the staff would sing “Happy Birthday.” However, what we received was a plate with “Happy Birthday” written in chocolate sauce, but no candle and no singing. This was quite disappointing and felt like a failure to meet the promises made.
The service was great, our waitress was Daisy and she was very polite, kind, and attentive. The atmosphere was lovely with all of the Christmas decorations. And lastly the food was delicious too.
The restaurant was very busy, many of the staff seemed young and inexperienced, it was evident training was going on, there were long waits for everything, which was fine with us as not on a tight schedule and staying in the hotel. The King Prawn Starter the Prawns were not cleaned well, we complained and they were swiftly returned to the kitchen, we were offered a replacement but declined the charge was removed from the bill. The Chipotle Chicken was sensational.
Hey! Just been to your Maidstone restaurant 15.15pm booking - Sunday and I just wanted to say how dissatisfied I was, not with the food that was nice but the service was shocking.nnArrived and the couple in front of us informed the lady at the front desk that their friend would be late, she abruptly said there was a time on the table and they would have to order a starter whilst they waited, when we sat down 5 mins later their friends walked in. I thought this was quite a frosty welcome and felt like a conveyer belt service.nnAnyway fast forward to our experience.. we had a waitress called Sarah so we were told, we sat there for a while before she acknowledged us, then she was friendly enough to begin with and said that she would try to remember our order rather than write it down which filled us with confidence.nnAfter 5 minutes our halloumi fries came out starter but no sign of our drinks which really annoyed my partner as the menu says you can have before dinner drinks yet we were being served our starter before our drinks, worried that our food would get cold we started to eat it but was trying to get attention of the staff for our drinks. Fifteen minutes after we had eaten our starter I asked Sarah for our drinks but was abruptly told that the bar had a back log? No sorry nothing.. I find it laughable that at your entrance it looks all posh bottles of wine on display yet can’t get a drink before starters are brought out? Another ten minutes passed and then the drinks came out a peroni and a coke lol. Shortly after our main sharing roast arrived.. my partner asked for another drink as he had nearly finished the one he had waited so long for, he asked the male waiter who brought our food out this time. Anyway we ate our meal and no one came over to ask if it was nice? We wanted the “unlimited” dripping sauce as we had ran out but fat chance of getting anyones attention for that. The male waiter my partner asked for a drink came back out and we asked again for a drink, he said ok and I saw him go ask Sarah, she came over 5 minutes later to say one was on order again no sorry for the wait. I like to think I am a fair person but such long waits for drinks with your meal is not great, its also not great being offered any drinks or even being asked if your meal is nice.nnAnyway end of meal, Sarah came over to ask if we wanted desserts no asking if we enjoyed it? we said no thank you as we were stuffed, she went ok I will get the bill and walked off. We didn’t ask for the bill and still had our plates in-front of us, we might of wanted a coffee? Or another long wait for a drink? We arrived at 3.15 and were out by 4pm so had plenty of time on the table. We felt rushed and ignored. I can’t believe what awful service was given, actually put us in a bad mood! Can’t believe this is the service people are paying for when money is tight for people.nnAs I said the food was lovely so that makes it more of a shame that the service is so poor!
