This is not in anyway trendy or modern but traditional and cosy. People are friendly and the food is good and priced suitably and a casual dress code is the overall accepted , food is always correct as ordered and sufficient. Time from order to table . Staff are helpful and polite locals. They do nice lasagna vegetarian option is very good , steak pie is a hearty meal for hungry visitors . There is ample free parking in the car park . They have sports in the main bar when it’s on television it will be shown here. There is a warm open fire when it’s cold and has a local carefree and relaxing atmosphere. There is a hotel but I have never stayed in the rooms. I often pop by to grab a meal when I can’t be bothered to cook myself and don’t fancy takeaway. A plus for me is well behaved dogs are allowed too

I've been going a few years now to the lion and the food and staff have always been 1st class I stayed there for the 1st time few weeks ago wonderful little room we enjoyed our stay and will go back the dog was good as gold as well we have to take him with us or he will bite the in laws

A most welcoming pub with great food and accommodation. Well worth a visit and place to stay

Mixed sort of a place. Dingey decor, tired furniture that wouldn't sell well in a second hand shop but interesting odd bits of art around. Beer is good and varied. Food is ok standard pub fair. Reasonable value for money. Contracting to provide 140 early breakfasts for those doing a rally meant it wasn't necessarily peacefull for residents.

Olde coaching inn or hotel, always quite busy as the food is good and generous portions, there is also a good selection of Ales and beers. Free wifi.
