The folks that welcomed us were marvelous. We had a stroller and our little warrior was loud at times but they were patient and attentive. The food was beyond our expectations and to date has been the best set of dishes we have had in country. Thank you so very much for accommodating our family and being so attentive.
This historic pub in Dover holds a dear tradition to all the channel swimmers and locals. You will witness the time through the handwritten posts on the wall of their personal experience, time they took to swim across the sea to France and the year ! It is said to be 800 years old ! The staff is friendly and drinks are reasonable and food is not bad either . Definitely recommended!
We stopped in after walking the White Cliffs of Dover. It was a crisp, cold, wet walk; so stepping into The White Horse was a welcome respite. The pints of Old Dairy ale came first and went well with our White Horse Burger and Ribs. The ribs literally fell off the bone. So good! I know we were hungry and anything may have been good, but the people here really took care of us. Great place and a must visit if you are in Dover!
Oldest pub in Dover dating from the 14th Century Homemade food and good service. It was very busy on a monday evening, so I recommend to book ahead if you want to eat.
Great place to stop and enjoy a beer and some delicious food too. The hosts were very friendly and made us feel really welcome. Food was cooked to order and very tasty. Great selections of wine and all very reasonable priced. Will definitely go back!
Make sure you reserve a table if you want to eat. Lovely service and staff are friendly. Big portions. My only complaint was that there were bones in the fish. The fish was soft, flakey and not greasy. Way better than a fish and chip shop. The walls contains writing of swimmers who swam across the channel to mark their achievement.
I feel like we hit the jackpot with the White Horse. Our B&B happened to be next door, so it made sense to stop by for dinner and a pint or two. The vibe in this place is fabulous. The food is top notch and locally sourced. There's excellent local cask ales on tap, and the employees all seem to love their job. It's easy to see why after we learned one of them is an owner, working side by side with them. Thank you, Stuart and your staff for making us feel so welcome and at home. I'm sure we'll be back to see you before long.
We were recommended The White Horse for great food. Well what we didn’t expect was how brilliant the food was, wonderful hospitality, a great atmosphere and a lovely surprise to look at the walls and the stories they revealed. We had to meet and thank in person Dave the chef and Nicky who hosted us from start to finish. And we booked a return. We had fish and chips, chicken curry and Dave’s special cheesecake. Thank you both and the team for a great and memorable night. Tom, Sarah and Lena
We went on a Wednesday lunchtime. An old traditional pub. Interesting writing on the walls, made for good reading. Friendliness was obvious from walking in. Staff were chatty and efficient. Food was excellent, my only complaint was too big a portion for me.
Had a fantastic Sunday Lunch at the White Horse! The food was nice and hot, homemade and very reasonably priced, I was lucky to get a table after visiting the castle, so definitely book ahead to avoid disappointment, thanks again!
