I visited this afternoon and I was absolutely appalled by some of the things I saw. While most of the tanks were very clean, a lot of the fish were in the corners of tanks looking unwell and unhappy and barely moving at all. Worse still, I am almost certain that we saw numerous dead fish floating upside down or sideways and unmoving that they hadn't even bothered to remove. They were selling "fighting fish with tanks" which were literally the saddest looking fish ever in tiny dirty 15cm x 10cm plastic containers where the fish would be doomed to die. Not that it would matter to the fish, as they all looked like they wished death would come soon anyway. At least two of those looked dead as well. The most obvious evidence of their total lack of responsibility was selling plastic containers for children and calling them fish tanks. They came with no filter or actual accessories for fish keeping but did manage to have stupid Finding Nemo toys for their goldfish to swim around in, as it slowly dies in unsuitable water. I am in the market for some fish so I visited Amwell Aquatics in Thornwood before this place, and the difference is immense. The fish there seemed energetic, happy and healthy, and the staff were passionate and knowledgable. They certainly did not sell hideous cheap tanks that are just timed death traps for goldfish. I know people don't care about the welfare of fish as much as other animals, but even if you don't please consider the investment that you make buying these fish. They literally had to put a sign up saying that once you've bought the fish its not their responsibility if it gets sick or dies, presumably because of complaints in the past. DO NOT GO HERE. There are plenty of other specialist shops just a short drive away.
Went in 30 mins ago with my youngest son to buy a fish or 2 for his tropical tank, found over priced unhealthy fish and member of staff smoking in the back of the fish room! Informed another member of staff who didnt seem to care at all and seemed as if this was regular practice.
I have spent hundreds of pounds at this shop on fish and the fish never survive. I thought I was doing something wrong but the fish are very unhealthy and the last straw was the parasites I found on the fish when I brought them home and all the fish in the tank died. Not spending another penny at this shop and regret having spent money there in the first place!
Bought a fantail goldfish from here that killed 4 others that were in my tank, they were replaced 4 times and every time they died, sometimes they had a living parasite & other times they had white spots all over after a few days, I would never buy from here ever again.
Only come here for my fish stuff now not had any problems staff are friendly my fish are all healthy and happy can't fault the shop one bit
Gary is so nasty and rude I'm terrified of him you go in there and your looked at as if to say go away from this shop because of their rudeness it is somewhere I try to avoid. I've now been Banned from Waterworld because I told the truth.why ask to leave a review if one isn't allowed tell tell the truth?
Got two goldfish plus tank kit two years ago for the kids and they're still going strong good price and service.
Today we buy some fish food,we pay the cashier with two one pound coin, the cashier drop it to the till, and pick a coin out and say that's is not a pound coin ,so we had to gave him another one.I not concern about the pound,it was why not check before drop to the till,Is he so sure it's my ? But every time most the staff are rude.
All worker friendly I bought 18 fishes from 4 mounts ago they are healthy every week I'm going looking new fish
It's OK, just a bit more expensive than the place I usually go. Decent selection of fish and friendly staff
