Nice looking pub, nice inside. My partner tried to order a cocktail when we arrived only to be told 'we don't do that' when asked what did he mean he response was 'we don't do that'. No explanation as to why not just very blunt. Left my partner feeling stupid as if she asked for something out of the ordinary. If you don't do it then get it off the menu! Very rude! The chicken pie was all puff pastry barely any filling. I ordered the hunters chicken schnitzel which tasted nice to be fair but the meal overall was small in size for the price had to order a side salad to go with it as it came with literally 2 leaves. The mains were a little bit overpriced for what they were especially the schnitzel at nearly £16 and came with a few chips. I was going to order the curry but I seen it was £17 which is unbelievable for chicken curry and rice!! The desserts were really nice though. I wouldn't come here again as I don't believe it's good value for your money. We came as a group of 6 but for my partner an myself our food came to £80. She had 2 cocktails 2 for £12 I had water. No starters. 2 mains and a dessert each, banoffee pie and a modern take on a black forest gateaux which was brilliant i loved that. And a garlic bread which is not on the menu.
Very nice and cozy place for a coffee or food. We had Sunday roast and the vegetarian option was very nice. The staff is really lovely and attentive. We booked online which is very easy and they gave us a very nice table close to the fireplace. I will come back sometime.
It was good, prices not bad. Service recommended. One needs to book prior visit. Plenty of parking with accessibility to all. Bathrooms available. Wish they could improve on birthday candles. Overall, I recommend Travellers Rest to everyone as menu is also accommodative.
Lovely pub. Lots of outdoor and indoor seating. The menu is available all day and a very diverse choice. We had the burger and lasagna. Both very tasty. Staff very friendly and reasonably priced.
Lovely friendly place .food was amazing me and my husband went to celebrate our anniversary. Darren who served us was very friendly and helpful. Really lovely place we will be visiting again food was excellent.
What an absolute shambles. King prawn starter apparently straight out of an Iceland bag of prawns under cold water. Flavourless, pale and soggy. Lettuce was brown around some edges and the Marie sauce was so bland. Best thing about the starter was the added salt. The main, belly pork and scallops. Belly pork was overdone and chewy, scallops were over done and awfully rubbery. Jus was OK and the veg was a soggy mess. £7.25 for the starter and £19.95 for the main. Yes £7.25 for a bag of prawns from Iceland and brown lettuce. Absolute joke. Yuk and never again.
First visit for a while with family of 7. Waited ages to be served. Ordered sea bass which was like a wafer but to be fair got me another but had to eat on my own. The burger was lovely but the 5 cooked dinners were disappointing. As we dined at 4 appeared to have pre packed roasties which were tangy, Yorkshire were cheap frozen ones, carrot was ok but other veg was hard. Very disappointing and won’t be going back.
Highly recommend this place to everyone! Me and my parter called in on the off chance there would be availability, the gentleman did mention they were booked up but managed to squeeze us in thank goodness! We had a starter each, a main, 2 rounds of drinks and desserts which we had to take away because we were so stuffed all for under £80. The food was absolutely delicious and all came within perfect timing considering how busy they were! We will definitely be back!
Thanks for a lovely afternoon.. Waitress polite & lovely overall great service ...food gorgeous Definitely be back x
Went to Travellers Rest for partners birthday. Lovely welcome. Shown straight to our table. Restaurant is beautifully rustic with low beams, slate floors and eclectic furnishings. 1st chair wasn't right for me but was changed without any problems. Our waitress, Nikki, was so friendly and helpful. Found out later she wasn't feeling 100% so many thanks to her for sticking around. We both had the melted cheese bites for starters, I had the beef rib for mains and blackcurrant cheesecake for dessert, my other half the chicken and pancetta pie followed by the sticky toffee pudding. Couldn't fault anything. Price was very reasonable considering the quality and would go again in a heartbeat. Thanks to all for a thoroughly enjoyable night.
