Had Christmas lunch here today and it was fantastic! Huge portions and it all tasted delicious. I even got a Christmas card whe we paid, service was impeccable and atmosphere was lovely too.
Large portions. Well cooked with vegetables that were not over cooked. The chicken breast was particularly juicy. Some ingredients were substituted and not exactly as described on the menu. When we asked for extra gravy it came very quickly. The cauliflower cheese was just cauliflower with a sprinkling of cheese melted over it.
Amazing food. Lovely Atmosphere and very friendly service. Very impressed with the food presentation as well. Already recommended to my friends and family and will definitely make another visit soon
I was very impressed with The Travellers Rest pub as it had about four choices of vegan food. I had a "Beyond Burger" which is a plant based burger that tastes just like meat. This is the way to go if we want to cut climate emissions. Unfortunately the salad was very limp and quite old though the sauce that came with the chips was delicious.
Had Sunday lunch here with friends, while visiting from Ireland. OMG,It was the nicest lunch I ever had, the 3 course menu, was about £30 I think. All 3 courses amazing, so tasty. Best ever starter of mushrooms, in a divine sauce on sourdough. Beautiful dinner,Totally sinful dessert of cheesecake with caramel profiteroles, I dont want to even think of the calories. We will be back for sure, when we visit again.
Came out with my little family. We don’t eat out very often as my anxiety over my son’s allergies always gets the better of me. But because it was my birthday I was egged on abit by the children and hubby of course. We booked a table online before we left which was nice and simple to do. When we arrived we were welcomed with a smiley host who sat us to our table. I explained about my son having allergies and I was made assured that everything would be fine and that kitchen staff would be made aware. Our server couldn’t of been more helpful, with recommendations on the menu and of course food my son wouldn’t be allowed to have. Food came out lovely and hot and went down very well, and my children felt really grown up having their own gravy boat and pizza cutter. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff. Puddings also very tasty. We all left with full belly’s We will definitely be coming back for a meal here. THANK YOU for looking after us.
Brought my family here yesterday for a Sunday roast to celebrate my birthday. We thought the renovation was a great improvement, the atmosphere was good and the staff very friendly. However, although the roast beef was delicious, the meals were cold and vegetables hard and not cooked. Hopefully when we return there will be an improvement on what could have been a perfect Sunday roast.
The decor/ambience is lovely, beautifully designed. The staff were great, attentive but not overly so. We started with the Artisan breads which is a good selection. It is presented on a little table, which whilst is a nice touch, is actually awkward to eat off - we moved it. I had the chicken which was lovely and my partner had the pie. Whilst the pie was good, he thought it was not made on the premises but brought in? A good chunk of home made pie would be better - although the presentation is not always 'pretty'. The deserts were great and there is a good wine selection. The roast potatoes had run out which would have spoilt a roast dinner but I'm guessing you had been busy at lunchtime which is wonderful for a new opening. I would advise my friends to eat with you but don't bank on a roast on a Sunday evening. We really enjoyed our visit and will be back
Nice interior and setting but the food could be better. I ordered the nourish bowl which turned out to be just a salad. The grains were few and scattered in the salad. I ordered prawns on top. They were barely warm and still in the shell and I was not given a dish for the shells. My husband ordered a shrimp skewer which were also barely warm and the sides weren't great. Our bread and oil starter consisted of three types of stale bread. Not worth the price. The atmosphere was nice but I suggest you stick with standard pub food like fish and chips if you dine here.
Pub looks great from the approach. Car park spacious and well laid out. Interior of pub clean and welcoming. Staff friendly and efficient. Service was excellent with a good range of food and drinks. We would definitely come back here again...!
