A fantastic traditional pub, very picturesque with friendly staff who serve a good pint. Many nice countryside walks nearby.
Lovely pub with loads of history. The locals are proud to say they are patrons. Great to place to recoup after going up Castle Hill.
Came in after a trip to whipsnade zoo! Such a lovely pub and the food is amazing! Not normally one to leave reviews but this was a must. We live a hour away from here but we will even travel again just to visit. Friendly and welcoming and highly recommend
Lovey pub and setting with a nice beer garden. But the food was poor. The roast dinner was disappointing. The roast potato’s tasted old and I’m not sure have ever seen an oven. Garvey was thin and lacking in any taste. The veg was over cooked. The meat was nice however. On a Sunday afternoon there was hardly anyone in the pub, I can now see why.
Me and my partner tried the takeaway menu for the first time tonight! Service was 10/10, lamb doner kebab was the perfect portion and the hand-stretched pizza was amazing Will definitely be having again!
This is a really historic pub and it’s nice that there’s plenty of signage to explain it’s background and previous uses. Inside it’s really small with super low ceilings and exposed beams and the bar itself is equally small. As a result there isn’t the greatest choice of drinks but there is all the common favourites. There’s a small amount of seating inside but there’s a large decked area at the top of a large garden, which is great for admiring the view down the hill below. If you’ve got kids who want to run around then it’s an ideal garden for that, as well as having a couple of swings at the bottom. The car park is a decent size and all the staff inside are super friendly. Prices were reasonable and with the welcoming atmosphere it was a great place to stop by and I’d certainly return again if I was passing.
Great pub, nice food and a good atmosphere. Friendly and helpful staff.
Just had our first delivery! Packaging held the heat, non greasy and sustainable Food was top notch Fresh, hot and delicious, we’d definitely recommend, especially the fish and chips and chicken shish
Small pub, great new outside seating area if the weather is nice. Food is standard pub food. Recommended.
The pub, views and food are lovely! However, we went as a table of 5 - 3 people were served their food after 40 minutes, it took another 45 minutes after the first lot of food had arrived for the other 2 to be served their food sandwich & chips, no explanation for the delay. We ran out of time to eat and had to get takeaway boxes.
