Beautiful hotel with friendly staff. The food was delicious and well presented. Our room was nice and the bed was comfortable. We booked the room but felt a little let down by the bathroom first world problems. we thought we would have the new updated bathroom but ended up with a dated bathroom in a very nice suite.nFor the most part, we were very happy.
Prices are far too expensive for drinks, even for a hotel. They're in a small town, just outside the town centre, not in the heart of a major city!nnA lot of their business comes from local families holding wedding receptions, funerals, etc. Sadly, it was the wake of my nana, which had myself and family attend this venue. And we weren't the only funeral related guests in attendance either.nnAn example of the prices: a white wine and a dash of lemonade, and a bottle of budwieser was nearly £12!!!nnI know businesses need to make money to survive, but to take advantage of folk, especially at such a time, is ridiculous and disgusting.
We stayed there for a week and it was excellent, the staff were great, breakfast was magic. The owner's Veronica and Joe are fantastic hosts while we were there and went above and beyond. The hotel is very convenient to the downtown, which is in walking distance. We loved it and would recommend it to others going to Greenock.
Great location with great history. Rooms are in need of a facelift however. Mold growing in the shower. No coffee maker in the room, instead instant coffee is offered. Floors creaked and the beds were old to where there were two divots where each person should sleep, created by years of use. Staff was very kind and service at the bars was always excellent. This location has great potential, but I would like to see the owners invest a little more into modernizing the staterooms.
Tontine hotel is one of the most charming hotels I've ever had the pleasure of staying in. The staff knew us by name the second day,couldn't be more accommodating or helpful.nThe food was tasty, the breakfast is excellent lots to choose from.nThe rooms are always spotless as was the hotel.nThe location is perfect.nI couldn't recommend the Tontine hotel more.
