I was in the area and my friend suggested that we go for lunch together. The parking is quite limited and on a busy day I would imagine it’d be difficult to get parked. Went in and the inside was empty so we had asked if the pub was open.nnThe staff member who was serving us looked at us as if that wasn’t a normal question to ask and said they were open, we then asked for the menu which was handed to us and told to grab a seat and then go to the bar to order.nnThe outdoor seating is lovely with the view but personally a bit of padding on the seats wouldn’t go a miss and a bit of paint wouldn’t hurt either but overall a nice place to sit and have your meal.nnMy friend and I went back to the bar to order our food and drink and paid by card which is nice to see as I am not someone to carry cash. When ordering there wasn’t an atmosphere of feeling that you were welcomed with some quite blunt replies when asking questions about the meal that I was going to be ordering and paying for.nnOur food came out quickly and piping hot with the fish and chips both being cooked in some sort of flavouring as it didn’t need any salt on the chips and the batter on the fish was crunchy and the fish was tender inside.nnOnce finished with the meal the same staff member took our plates away and I had made a remark about how nice the fish was only to be ignored, which doesn’t sit right with me as all it would have taken would be a thank you. I noticed however when the staff member was taking away other peoples plates she would have a little conversation and was a bit nicer.nnI had the feeling that either it was because I wasn’t a local that I wasn’t really welcome or that because of me being young that she just doesn’t like young people. ‍nnOther than that, nice place to go in terms of food, the garden was nice to sit in with the sun hitting you but staff could do with some training on customer service.
We visited for a main meal late afternoon in the weekday - we walked in with no booking. Easy to park. Dog friendly bar side and garden. Staff were very friendly and welcoming, service was good too. Very good sized portions and meals were enjoyed. Menu choice is vast and offers something for everyone.
First visit to this lovely Inn today. Met up with friends for the Sunday lunch carvery. Superb customer service all the staff were lovely and attentive and the food was superb. Will definitely be back for another visit. Highly recommend
Currently staying in Rothbury and had a lovely lunch here today with one of my friends. The view across the valley is to die for especially in the lovely sunshine. The food is superb, she had Moroccan Chicken and I had Sweet Chilli Chicken. We shared roast potatoes and chips both of which were satisfyingly crispy w and the accompanying fresh vegetables were cooked al dente and were delicious. The lady who served us was so nice and friendly too.
Went for a quick drink. Friendly pub but the place looked tired and needs updating especially the settees. However even though we didn't eat ourselves the couple on the next table were having a Sunday roast that looked amazing and they said it tasted great would definitely go back again when in the area for a meal.
