We hadn’t reserved a table and despite it being quite busy there was plenty of room for us. We ordered the steak and ale pie and it was wonderful. The mash was deliciously smooth, greens perfect and pie out of this world. It was swimming in gravy which pleased my mother immensely. Prices very reasonable. Would highly recommend.Service: 5/5
On one of the coldest nights this was the warmest place to be. Had a lovely meal & evening, all the food I saw coming to tables look great. The room were warm, very clean and comfortable. Then I finished my stay with a proper breakfast in the morning. The staff was all very helpful and nothing was to much trouble. Will be popping along and seeing you all again very soon
Wow, two days of bliss for us. Every single member of staff were engaging ,welcoming and genuine. You could see when the car park filled up at meal times,this place has got a great reputation for food with locals as well! We had a lovely stay with our dog who was very disappointed to go home to his normal routine. Even the other guests and locals were so friendly. Thank you we really needed that!
What a great traditional pub. Great welcome, good selection of drinks and fab food. Had the "special" shepherd pie, it was lovely. Very reasonable price too. Great to see a place that's not preventing to be something it not, just a proper English pub 300 years in the making. Cracking. Defo visit again.Service: 5/5
Booked for a birthday family meal. Staff offered to decorate the table which was lovely, greeted by friendly kind staff and serve really well throughout. Food was plentiful and delicious with some great veggie and vegan offerings. The cajun chicken and ribs were perfect!!!
Lovely pub, comfortable room and bed. Everything you need for a short stay. Little nosy in the morning as near main road but not an issue. Food was lovely. Best steak and ale pie i have had Rooms: 4/5
We stayed here a couple of years ago and decided to come back whilst visiting the area. Value for money it's pretty difficult to beat, we stayed in the barn, the accomodation could do with a little TLC but nothing serious, the beds and pillows however are the most comfortable we slept on during our four week UK trip, I slept like a baby. The bar has a good range of beers, the food was all home cooked and of a good standard and the staff were fun, friendly and helpful. They are wheelchair accessible and the staff were happy to rearrange the tables to facilitate this. I will be back next time. x
Called in for a weekend breakfast. Well priced with very high quality ingredients that were cooked to perfection. Topped off with excellent coffee and friendly staff. Recommended.
Hubby and I decided at the last minute to see if they were still serving breakfast. At 11.30. They said no as they were preparing for the Sunday carvery if we wanted to stick around for it as they had a spare table. Omg so glad we did. The meat was done to perfection, the roasts and veg too. The ambience and decor was cosy, the staff couldn't do enough. It's very likely this might turn into a regular thing. Well done!
