A small but worthy gig venue, went to see Marisa and the Moths, Kite Thief's and Kit Rigg. So let me tell you more, if your a booking agent book your bands in, if your an independent band or singer use this class public place. The atmosphere was superb, the beers where great, wine was chilled and as the females said "Darling it's making me feel fruity" which leads me on to the staff, well these guys were fast, polite and very helpful. Didn't wait anymore than two minutes to get served which was good as the place was full, got to say its a must place to watch a great gig at reasonable prices. Long live independent music venues. It's also just a few minutes walk to Piccalilly Railway Station, Bus routes and local taxis Vegetarian options: Yeah Didn't see any pork scratching or prawn cocktail, bacon or chicken Crisps so should be okay Dietary restrictions: It's a public house concert venue Kid-friendliness: Yes if they are gig goers and love music. But for safety reasons I don't think it's advisory Wheelchair accessibility: Ground floor yes, but didn't see access for upper floors, but there must be lift for the equipment.
Awesome music venue. Here we saw Alright, The Paul Taylor Experience and Scumface which was brilliant. Not only do the bands bring in a friendly and fun crowd, the venue is laid out nicely and drinks are reasonably priced. The toilets were clean always gets bonus points! and the staff were super friendly. Definitely worth getting to see a show or two there
This is a venue designed around function rather than frills. Drink offers were good and staff were very pleasant. It is a proper pub with a very decent space upstairs for live music. I was at a gig featuring Dru Blue, Katie Mac and Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly. All of the acts did a smashing job and made for a very good evening. I highly recommend going to see any of the 3 solo
Great venue for live music and good offers on drinks. 2 Red Stripe for £7.Service: 5/5
An iconic building behind Piccadilly Railway station, known around the world for its infamous Smith's and Morrissey night on the first week of the month. Popular with all age groups and have themed nights throughout the week as well as bands performing. Hasn't succumbed to the glitzy superpub status, it's your typical back street pub with all the original fixtures and fittings, how a true pub should be. Pool table seen better days fruit machine, pulled pints, crisps and an atmosphere....
Proper pub, pulls in an amazing quality of bands, great, chilled out atmosphere.Service: 5/5
Great pub with a little room upstairs for music gigs.Food: 5/5
Great small gig venue, if you're a lover of intimate gigs you'll enjoy the Star and Garter. Warning - it is two flights of stairs to get up to the gig room, so not accessible to all. In a grungy pub like this, I expected the drinks to be super cheap, but it was £5 for a pint of Amstel; which means the cost of living has affected these guys too All of the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, couldn't fault them one bit. Parking: Sheffield Street Car Park is round the corner, and £5 for 8 hours, so a perfect place to park for gigs here. No where to stop outside, as it's on a junction / main road / traffic lights.
It's an old pub but with great character I'm not sure if they serve food here Service: 5/5
Always an impressive building to approach, the Star & Garter is a no nonsense old school pub and a proper 'band upstairs' venue. There is some great musical heritage at the S & G too. Well worth a visit.
