February 2018: Just starting up again after a change in management. Sensible to start with a restricted menu with good quality food at sensible prices. Cask beer choice changes regularly and is well kept and presented. The new outside seating, overlooking the canal and Anderton Boat Lift, should be great once the weather starts to improve. Myself and my friend popped in for a drink after an afternoon walk today. We were greeted by Jack, who was friendly and attentive. The lunch we had was beautiful (definitely recommend the carvery ham!). Will definitely come back again. Well done to Jack and the team on their reopening!

Welcoming pub close to the canal and the boat lift. We were invited to use the tap room even in walking boots. Beer good and food excellent and very reasonably priced. Will definitely call again.

Good food and good service would highly recommend the pub for both food and drink. We moored the boat near the Anderton Boat lift and walked up to the pub. It was up hill but not too great a distance. The menu offered a wide choice and the food we had was very good - as was the beer.
