The Splash
"The Royal Oak Inn, known affectionately locally as ‘The Splash’, dates from the 17th century and commemorates the occasion in 1651 when King Charles II hid for a day and a night in an oak tree to escape his enemies after the Battle of Worcester. The Royal Oak Inn still retains its wonderful cosy and traditional country pub atmosphere, and is set in an area of outstanding natural beauty just two miles from the Georgian market town of Louth, the Splash is approached through a shallow ford in the village of Little Cawthorpe on the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds and is one of the most picturesque villages in Lincolnshire. Our lawned gardens make it an ideal place for eating and drinking whilst your children play in our own playpark."

Nice plates from which to feast. Some nice traditional grub with some nice choices for variety. Dog friendly which is helpful. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Nice surroundings, the open fire is toasty and outdoors areas are pleasant too. Visited again for more hearty grub, some gluten free options which were handy for some of our group. Enjoyed an impromptu pub quiz courtesy of the landlord which was fun.
Had a lovely time here tonight. The staff was great, the food was lovely. Nice toasty log fire on the go. Good atmosphere.
Absolutely gem of a pub, great location, beer garden a delightful place to enjoy a quiet drink and a meal weather permitted. We didn't have a meal during our stay but judging by the fact that the restaurant was fully booked for the weekend it must have a good reputation. Bar staff friendly and professional, we highly recommend.
Reasonably priced pub menu. Service was very quick for a Saturday lunchtime. Portions very generous. We had gammon, fish and steak pie. Will visit again.
Welcoming pub, great beer, great menu in the bar and superb restaurant. Open fire and superb garden. Summer or winter - you receive the same warm welcome from the friendly staff.
Lovely country pub. Good beers on and a nice fireplace. We had lunch, the food was excellent and the portions big. Huge car park, plenty of room for our campervan. Staff were friendly and the landlord was great with my boy, having a laugh with him. Would definitely recommend
Lovely pub out in the sticks. We went recently for the Sunday dinner and planned to have the three course offer… but portions were so generous we including family with big appetites could only manage two. The food we had was lovely, and we were sat in the conservatory type room which was nice and airy. This will become a regular place for us to eat out.
Went to the Splash tonight for a family meal.Excellent food and great service one of the best meals i have had for a long time.Nice selection of drinks
What a lovely place. Rocked up here for a Sunday lunch. Lovely food. Reasonable prices. Great surroundings and environment. Friendly helpful staff. Dog friendly. Very busy place. Worth the 50 minute drive. Will definitely be back again.
We had a lovely meal. Staff very efficient and attentive. We were there on a very hot day and the restaurant was unbearably hot. We moved outside to finish off our drinks but we were getting attacked by millions of small flies. A little hidden gem.
