Overall, don't waste your money here. Treatment and staff were all lovely, nice massage and started off very welcoming. The set meal lunch included, was limited but it was nice. However, the positives end there. The "spa" was not a relaxing place to be. It was full of screaming children and drunk adults. A hen do bullied us out of the jacuzzi before we even had been in for 10 minutes. The selfish group then proceeded to hog the entire thing for the best part of an hour, getting more drunk as they knocked back more and more drinks. The steam room was broken, and the sauna stuffed with people. It was impossible to swim due to all the people in the pool splashing and thrashing around. I was going to bring my parents here to celebrate their birthday's, but I couldn't think of anything worse. We will never be returning. If i wanted such an experience like this, then I'd just go to my local swimming pool.
Have just visited Slaley Hall for a relaxing spa with my partner and grandma, the treatments we received were absolutely wonderful and we could not fault them at all. The rest of the day was not so wonderful, the ‘relaxing spa’ was full of kids jumping in the pools, splashing you and running round. My Grandma had went in to the relax room to chill for a little before our meal, 6 kids found themselves in there with their parents screeching on, was not relaxed at all. We paid to have the 3 course meal which had very little option unless you paid for extra, I myself ordered a Caesar salad which came which when arrived was a bowl full of leaves, a few strips of chicken, some croutons, and anchovies which was completely disappointing. There were 3 Women on reception when we arrived, 2 extremely helpful and the third who served us was incredibly rude and in my opinion, should not be front of house at all. For someone who’s experience this was for the first time at a spa, it wasn’t great and I won’t be returning.
I usually would post 5 stars for Slaley hall spa. The pool area is beautiful and tranquil, great facilities steam room, jacuzzi, pool, sauna, bar are, etc. However the reason for loosing a star now is the lunch options, apart of the spa day packages, have massively reduced to a salad bowl and no second option for dining requirements even when asked.
Had a wonderful day at Slaley Hall - a gift from a friend with a friend. We arrived to a lovely warm welcome and an explanation of what to expect and when. We were then left to our own devices to chill, swim, use the Sauna although the jacuzzi was out of action, then have a lovely light lunch before making our way to our pre booked treatments. I had the friendly Emma, and opted for the Rebalancing Ritual - which was amazing! Emma was very thorough and professional and I felt the effects for the next 5 days - feeling very chilled and balanced. It was a lovely day away from the usual hectic rush around and a real treat for me. Currently planning with some friends to come back.
Paid 280 for 2 people to enjoy the spar experience and this was our first visit. Which was disappointing. Treatments 5/5 food was lovely with a very polite happy staff but spar it self poor service. I think if you book this spar you should be told children are allowed in the spar. From 3, we had screaming children and parents allowing there kids to shout scream jump about you in the pools even when we moved it still was very loud which was not relaxing at all considering the price we paid. Jacuzzi bubbles not working but we were told before we arrived which was fair enough but getting out of the noise we decided to shower and go to relaxing room. But the showers were freezing cold which we reported and told someone would look at this,30 mins of waiting around we never got time to go to relaxing room as it was nearly time for our stay to end told the lady that we weren’t happy to basically her not slightly interested other than she did try and get a room so we could shower but as for the spar experience she wasn’t bothered how we felt very disappointed : Never been to a spar what was not relaxing
Visited yesterday - reception staff were friendly. Therapist claire was lovely and very good. However the additional pedicure for a whopping £85 was totally not worth the money - gel polish already coming off! Lunch was poor - little choice and the ‘steak’ pie should be relabelled’fake’ pie - it was filled with vegetables! Food wasn’t hot - really disappointing. Venue is looking tired and in need of updating.
My husband and I went here for the day on a wowcher deal, which included 2 full 25 minute? treatments each and a 3 course meal. We arrived around midday and were led straight to the chill out room, which is lovely to just put your feet up and relax, whilst sipping some iced water and reading a magazine or listening to music etc. Following the filling in of the consultation form, we were led to the therapy rooms which were warm and extremely relaxing, with a lovely ambience. The massage bed was heated which was great for my arthritis and being a therapist myself, I was interested to see what the therapist was like performing the treatments. My husband had a salt body scrub and a facial, and thoroughly enjoyed it, and I had a back, shoulder and neck massage using Espa products followed by a holistic facial. Lucy was my therapist for the day and she performed the treatment very well, releasing a lot of my tension and leaving me feeling very relaxed. My skin looked and felt so much nicer too. The meal was a little limited with not many options, but still, very nice, and the waiting staff were very pleasant. The pool itself is wonderful, surrounded by a tranquil, rocky setting, with plenty of beds, a small bar area, fresh lemon/Orange water on tap, and I came away after a full day of being truly pampered with a bag or two of Espa products to boot, as there was a knockdown sale on the spa products. Lovely clean changing rooms and robe and towel hire is also free with this deal, which it isn't in a lot of other spas. There is also a steam room and sauna as well as a jacuzzi offset to the main pool. All in all, a wonderfully relaxing experience which we intend to repeat, and would highly recommend. Having been to other spas, this is by far my favourite. Thank you for a wonderful day.
This is such a beautiful spa! This was the first time away from my baby and also my birthday so it was the perfect way to get away for a couple of hours and relaxed. I spent the morning using the facilities and then had a treatment. I then had lunch and then had a walk around one of the many walks around the grounds. It was all perfect and everyone was lovely too, I will definatley be going back
We had a very disappointing spa trip yesterday. This was supposed to be a relaxing day to celebrate my sister's upcoming wedding and the afternoon before we were supposed to arrive our treatments were cancelled. We thought we could still use the facilities but almost everything was out of order and the pool was overcrowded. We weren't provided with towels or robes as they had ran out and the staff didn't seem to know where anything was. I can't fault the staff providing the afternoon tea. I wish we could have been informed of how little there was available sooner.
We been before and had a good time so 4 of us booked together early so we could all get our treatment times together but not enough staff so had them split up Shortage of robes and when we did get them one had no belt and one had a hole in.Could not fault the massage it was excellent. We upgraded to afternoon tea would you believe it no English tea at all in a large hotel like this so that was a good start so had to have another type of tea which was awful.Brought the pot of tea 10 mins later the milk then 5 mins later brought the food.My sister has allergies so they brought hers out separate but 10 mins later came running back in as they had included cakes she could not eat. Will not be going back there again
