Great staff. Great menu. Great beer. Great atmosphere. It's been more than 30 years from when I last visited the Skim, the approach road now has tarmac ;- We arrived during a busy Sunday lunch without booking, not surprisingly the inside tables were all booked so we settled ourselves outside. A few minutes later a staff member came and found us to say that a table had just come available and would we like to use it? That's what great service looks like! I can certainly recommend their Sunday nut roast and their macaroni cheese.
Greatly improved after its make over. Food was very good but only a couple of real ales. Nowhere to sit at the bar which is a shame on a cold day. It's a good pub to include on a walk on Reigate Heath.
Amazing food, great service, lovely place, we visited for a birthday meal, and because our victorian ancestors lived here , we were happy to be able to visit and enjoy the building too as a result of our family tree research , brilliant pub ,5 stars
Travelled up from Devon and came across this pub. Had a delicious meal. First class service and welcoming atmosphere. My husband loved the gluten free fish and chips. Special mention to our waitress cathy who made such a fuss of our dogs
Was a welcome sight after a lovely autumn dog walk. Dog friendly and lovely welcoming staff with lots of outside seating. Haven't eaten here but will be back in the future to try the menu
Turned up on the off chance of a bit of dinner late on Sunday afternoon after finishing work. Fresh full roast, lovely pint of "Shere Drop" Followed by beautiful desert all served by cheerful attentive staff. Couldn't ask for more going again next week though I'll probably book first now I've let the secret out !
Lovely pub. Lovely food and great service overall. Pub was incredibly busy . People very nice. Good location and plenty of parking
Visited here yesterday for Sunday Lunch. Food quality and portion size was good, location is lovely. Just a couple of minor gripes....service was sooooo slow, we had only two courses and were in there for over 2 hours, most of that was waiting for orders to be taken/food to arrive etc. There were 4 options on the menu for sunday lunch: Beef, Pork, Chicken and Nut Roast. No Nut Roast or Pork available, which are the things we wanted to order. Just a bit disappointing and baffling as to why, as this isn't the first Sunday Lunch service Skim Castle has ever done, so surely by now they have some idea of whats popular and how much they need to order in?
Lovely restaurant who were happy to serve us with hot drinks and snacks as they were fully booked for sunday lunch. Very accommodating and helpful staff were happy with us sitting in the outdoor covered area.
Came in for a drink and a bite to eat today and was unhappy with how we was treated by a lady I believe to be called Cathy. I would like to say firstly the women who was serving us was excellent, didn’t pick up her name but was super friendly and served us quickly. However, Cathy made several artsy comments in an unnecessarily bad tone to keep our dog in out of the path which we tried to do but given we aren’t the dog, it’s not so easy to do. Comments such as ‘Keep the dog in’ ‘Everyone mind the dog that’s in the way’ when he was hardly an obstruction in the first place. Furthermore, she asked us if we wanted food and then said ‘you can order at the bar you know’ well why bloody ask us if we want food? Didn’t make sense to me. Anyway, pint was lovely I must say.
